Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable location for the water heater, considering access to water lines, electrical outlet, and drainage for the TPR valve. The unit can be mounted on a wall, placed on a rack, or set on the floor.
  2. Mounting (if applicable): If wall-mounting, use the provided mounting bracket and expansion screws. Drill appropriate holes, insert the expansion bolts, and secure the bracket firmly.
  3. Install Safety Valve: Thread the safety valve (TPR valve) into the cold water inlet (typically marked blue or with a purple ring) on the top of the unit. Ensure a watertight seal.
  4. Connect Water Lines: Connect the flexible metal hoses to the hot (red ring) and cold (purple ring) outlets on the top of the water heater. Connect the other ends to your water supply and faucet. If using two hot water outlets (e.g., sink and dishwasher), install the three-way valve at the hot water outlet.
  5. Connect Drain Line: Attach the clear plastic hose to the discharge port of the safety valve and route it to an open drain, ensuring it has a continuous downward slope.
  6. Fill Tank: Open a hot water faucet connected to the heater to allow air to escape. Then, open the cold water supply valve to fill the tank. Once water flows steadily from the hot water faucet, the tank is full. Close the hot water faucet.
  7. Electrical Connection: Plug the 44-inch power cord into a grounded 120V, 20-amp electrical outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

Temperature Adjustment

  • The water heater features a temperature control dial on the front panel.
  • Rotate the dial to adjust the desired water temperature, ranging from 86°F to 167°F.
  • The red indicator light illuminates when the unit is actively heating water and turns off once the set temperature is reached.

Initial Startup

  • After filling the tank and connecting power, set the desired temperature.
  • Allow approximately 30 minutes for the water to reach the set temperature.

6. Maintenance

Regular Care

  • Periodic Inspection: Regularly check the unit, connections, and the TPR valve for any signs of leaks, corrosion, or damage.
  • Drainage: If the water heater will not be used for an extended period or if there is a risk of freezing, drain the tank completely to prevent damage.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

  • No Hot Water:
    • Check if the unit is plugged in and the power outlet is functional.
    • Verify the circuit breaker has not tripped.
    • Ensure the temperature dial is set to a desired temperature.
    • Confirm the tank is full of water.
  • Water Not Hot Enough:
    • Adjust the temperature dial to a higher setting.
    • Allow sufficient time for the water to heat up.
  • Leaking:
    • Check all water connections for tightness.
    • Inspect the TPR valve for proper installation and function. If it's discharging frequently, water pressure may be too high.
  • Red Light Not On:
    • The water may already be at the set temperature.
    • Check power supply as described above.
