6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Display Modes

The docking station supports various display configurations depending on your operating system and laptop's capabilities. Ensure your laptop's USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode (Alt Mode) for video output.

For Windows Systems (DP1.4 Compatible Laptops):

Windows systems support both Mirror Mode and Extend Mode across multiple displays. In Extend Mode, you can have three distinct displays (HDMI 1 + HDMI 2 + HDMI 3) in addition to your laptop screen.

Diagram illustrating Windows multi-display modes. It shows a laptop connected to the docking station, which then connects to three external monitors. One mode shows the laptop screen (A) mirrored across all three external monitors (A, A, A). Another mode shows the laptop screen (A) extended to three distinct external monitors (B, C, D).

Image 6.1: Windows Multi-Display Modes (Extend and Mirror). The image shows how a laptop screen (A) can be extended to three unique external displays (B, C, D) or mirrored across all three external displays (A, A, A).

For macOS Systems (MacBook M1/M2 Chip):

macOS systems, including those with M1/M2 chips, typically support Mirror Mode for multiple external displays. This means all three external monitors will display the same content as your MacBook screen. Extended display to multiple distinct monitors is generally not supported by macOS via MST (Multi-Stream Transport) through a single USB-C connection.

Diagram illustrating macOS multi-display modes. It shows a MacBook connected to the docking station, which then connects to three external monitors. All three external monitors display the same content as the MacBook screen (A, A, A). A crossed-out section indicates that macOS does not support MST for distinct extended displays (B, C, D).

Image 6.2: macOS Multi-Display Modes. The image demonstrates that macOS typically mirrors the laptop screen (A) across all connected external displays (A, A, A). It explicitly states that macOS does not support Multi-Stream Transport (MST) for distinct extended displays.

6.2. Data Transfer

Utilize the various USB ports and card readers for efficient data transfer.

Image showing the MOKiN docking station with a focus on USB 3.1 ports, indicating 10Gbps data transfer speed, which is 20 times faster than USB 2.0. It also shows USB 3.0 at 5Gbps and USB 2.0 at 480Mbps. Icons for mouse, keyboard, smartphone, printer, HDD enclosure, and U flash drive are displayed, indicating compatible devices.

Image 6.3: USB 3.1 10Gbps High-Speed Data Transfer. This image highlights the data transfer capabilities of the docking station's USB ports, showing speeds for USB 3.1, USB 3.0, and USB 2.0, along with examples of compatible devices.

  • USB 3.1 (Type-A & Type-C): Connect external SSDs, high-speed flash drives, or other devices requiring maximum bandwidth.
  • USB 3.0 (Type-A): Suitable for most USB peripherals like external hard drives, cameras, or faster flash drives.
  • USB 2.0 (Type-A): Ideal for connecting low-bandwidth devices such as keyboards, mice, and printers to ensure stable performance.
  • SD/MicroSD Card Readers: Transfer photos and videos from your camera's memory cards directly to your computer.

6.3. Power Delivery

The PD3.0 USB-C port allows you to power your laptop through the docking station. Connect your laptop's original power adapter to this port. The docking station can deliver up to 100W of power to your connected laptop, ensuring it stays charged during use.

Image showing a MOKiN docking station connected to a laptop and a 100W power adapter plugged into a wall outlet. The diagram indicates 100W input to the docking station and 85W output to the laptop, illustrating efficient power delivery.

Image 6.4: 100W Power Delivery. This image demonstrates how the docking station receives 100W input from a power adapter and delivers 85W output to a connected laptop, ensuring efficient charging.

6.4. Network Connectivity

The integrated RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port provides a reliable and high-speed wired internet connection, which is often more stable than Wi-Fi.

Image showing the MOKiN docking station with an Ethernet cable connected to its RJ45 port, indicating a 1000 Mbps network speed. A laptop is also connected to the docking station.

Image 6.5: RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet. This image illustrates the use of the RJ45 port for a stable 1000 Mbps wired internet connection.

  • Connect an Ethernet cable from your router/modem to the RJ45 port on the docking station.
  • The docking station will automatically detect and adjust to network speeds of 10/100/1000 Mbps.

6.5. Audio

The 3.5mm audio/mic jack allows you to connect headphones, speakers, or a microphone for your audio needs.

  • Plug your 3.5mm audio device into the audio/mic jack.
  • Ensure your operating system's sound settings are configured to use the docking station's audio output/input.
