4. Setup

The nonser M-97C WiFi Extender offers two primary setup methods: WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) and Web Browser Setup.

4.1. Repeater Mode Setup (WPS Method)

This is the quickest way to extend your existing WiFi network.

  1. Power On: Plug the WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet near your main router. Wait for the power indicator light to turn on.
  2. WPS on Extender: Press the WPS/RST button on the WiFi Extender for 1-2 seconds. The WPS indicator light should start blinking.
  3. WPS on Router: Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your main wireless router.
  4. Connection: The extender will automatically connect to your router. Once connected, the signal indicator lights on the extender will become solid, indicating a successful connection.
  5. Relocate: Unplug the extender and move it to a location halfway between your router and the WiFi dead zone. Ensure the signal indicator lights remain solid after plugging it in, indicating good signal strength.

4.2. Repeater Mode Setup (Web Browser Method)

Use this method if your router does not have a WPS button or if the WPS method fails.

  1. Power On: Plug the WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet near your main router.
  2. Connect to Extender's WiFi: On your computer or smartphone, connect to the WiFi network named "nonser_EXT" or similar (without a password).
  3. Access Setup Page: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) and enter the default IP address (usually 192.168.10.1 or check the label on the device) or the setup URL provided in the quick start guide.
  4. Login: Enter the default username and password (usually "admin" for both, or as specified in the quick start guide).
  5. Select Repeater Mode: Follow the on-screen instructions to select "Repeater Mode". The extender will scan for available WiFi networks.
  6. Select Network: Choose your main WiFi network (SSID) from the list and enter its password.
  7. Apply Settings: Confirm the settings. The extender will restart.
  8. Verify: Once restarted, the extender's new WiFi network (e.g., YourNetworkName_EXT) will be available. Connect to it using your main network's password.
  9. Relocate: Unplug the extender and move it to an optimal location.

4.3. AP Mode Setup (Access Point)

In AP mode, the extender converts a wired internet connection into a wireless access point.

  1. Power On: Plug the WiFi Extender into an electrical outlet.
  2. Connect Ethernet Cable: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router (or modem) to the Ethernet port on the WiFi Extender.
  3. Connect to Extender's WiFi: On your computer or smartphone, connect to the WiFi network named "nonser_EXT" or similar (without a password).
  4. Access Setup Page: Open a web browser and enter the default IP address or setup URL.
  5. Login: Enter the default username and password.
  6. Select AP Mode: Follow the on-screen instructions to select "AP Mode".
  7. Configure WiFi Settings: Set a new SSID (network name) and password for your new wireless network.
  8. Apply Settings: Confirm the settings. The extender will restart and function as an access point.

5. Operating Modes

5.1. Repeater Mode

In Repeater Mode, the device extends the range of your existing wireless network. It receives the wireless signal from your main router and re-transmits it, effectively expanding coverage to areas with weak or no signal. This mode is ideal for large homes or offices with dead zones.

5.2. AP Mode (Access Point)

In AP Mode, the device connects to a wired network (e.g., from a modem or router via Ethernet cable) and broadcasts a new wireless network. This is useful for adding wireless capability to a wired-only network or creating a new WiFi hotspot in a specific area.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. No Internet Access After Setup

  • Check Main Router: Ensure your main router has an active internet connection.
  • Extender Placement: Relocate the extender closer to your main router. The signal indicator lights should show a strong connection.
  • Re-configure: Try setting up the extender again using the web browser method to ensure all settings are correct.

6.2. Slow Speed or Frequent Disconnections

  • Optimal Placement: Ensure the extender is placed in an optimal location, roughly halfway between your router and the desired coverage area, avoiding physical obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects.
  • Interference: Keep the extender away from devices that emit strong electromagnetic interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
  • Band Selection: For higher speeds, try connecting devices to the 5GHz band if supported.

6.3. Cannot Access Web Management Page

  • Correct IP Address: Ensure you are using the correct IP address (e.g., 192.168.10.1) or URL.
  • Connected to Extender: Verify that your device is connected to the extender's WiFi network (e.g., "nonser_EXT") and not your main router's network.
  • Reset: If issues persist, perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the WPS/RST button for 5-8 seconds until all lights flash. Then, attempt setup again.
