1. Introduction
Welcome to the ERAYAK 4500W Dual-Fuel Portable Inverter Generator manual. This document provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new generator. Please read thoroughly before use to ensure proper handling and longevity of your unit.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Carbon Monoxide Hazard
Using a generator indoors WILL KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas that can cause unconsciousness or DEATH. Operate in well-ventilated, outdoor areas away from open windows or doors. NEVER use in the home or in partly enclosed areas such as garages. Only use OUTSIDE and far from open windows or doors.
Your ERAYAK 4500PDM generator is equipped with a built-in CO detection system. This system automatically shuts down the generator if unsafe levels of carbon monoxide are detected. A CO switch is configured to allow the user to manually turn off depending on the environment. Always ensure proper ventilation and be aware of your surroundings.
Circuit breaker protection for all outlets ensures safe operation and prevents damage from electrical overloads.

5. Setup
5.1. Adding Engine Oil
Before starting the generator for the first time, you must add engine oil. The ERAYAK 4500PDM requires approximately 20 ounces of 10W-30 engine oil. Locate the oil fill cap, remove it, and carefully pour the oil using the provided oil kettle and funnel. Do not overfill. Ensure the generator is on a level surface during this process.
5.2. Fueling the Generator
Your dual-fuel generator can operate on either gasoline or propane.
- Gasoline: Open the fuel cap and carefully pour unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane) into the fuel tank. The tank capacity is 2.25 gallons.
- Propane: Connect a propane tank to the PROPANE GAS Air Inlet using the provided propane connecting pipe and regulator. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Starting the Generator
The ERAYAK 4500PDM supports both recoil (manual) and electric start options.
- Recoil Start: Ensure the fuel valve is open and the engine switch is in the 'ON' position. Pull the recoil starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
- Electric Start: (If equipped) Ensure the fuel valve is open and the engine switch is in the 'ON' position. Press and hold the electric start button until the engine starts.

Video: Illustrates the convenience of starting the ERAYAK generator using either electric or manual pull-start methods.
6.2. Fuel Selection and Automatic Switching
The generator features a gas priority system. If both gasoline and propane are connected, the generator will prioritize gasoline. If the gasoline runs out, the system will automatically switch to propane without interrupting power output. This ensures extended runtime and convenience.
Video: Demonstrates the automatic fuel switching capability of the ERAYAK generator, transitioning from gasoline to propane when one fuel source is depleted.
6.3. ECO Mode
Activate the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) Mode to optimize engine performance for maximum runtime and reduced noise. In this mode, the generator adjusts its engine speed to match the load, saving fuel. A full 2.25-gallon gas tank can last up to 16 hours at 25% load in ECO mode.
6.4. Connecting Electrical Devices
Your generator provides various outlets:
- Two 120V/20A outlets
- One 30A (L5-30P) RV outlet
- USB-A (5V 2.1A)
- 18W USB-C
Ensure that the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage (3500W on gasoline, 3150W on propane) to prevent overloading.
6.5. Parallel Operation
For increased power, two ERAYAK 4500PDM generators can be connected in parallel using a compatible parallel kit (sold separately). Refer to the parallel kit's instructions for proper connection and operation.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your generator.
7.1. Engine Oil Change
It is recommended to change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of use or the first month of operation, whichever comes first. Subsequently, change the oil every 100 hours or every 6 months. Refer to the user manual for detailed instructions on draining and refilling the oil.
7.2. Spark Plug Inspection and Replacement
Regularly inspect the spark plug for wear and tear. Replace it if necessary using the provided spark plug wrench. Ensure the correct gap is maintained as specified in the user manual.
7.3. Air Filter Cleaning
Check the air filter periodically and clean it if it appears dirty. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to access and clean the air filter.
8. Troubleshooting
If your generator encounters issues, consult the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Generator Not Starting: Check fuel levels (gasoline/propane), ensure the fuel valve is open, and the engine switch is 'ON'. Verify the spark plug is clean and properly gapped.
- CO Sensor Shutdown: If the CO sensor light is on and the generator shuts down, move the unit to a well-ventilated outdoor area immediately. Allow it to air out before attempting to restart.
- Overload Indicator On: If the overload indicator light is on, disconnect some electrical devices to reduce the load. Reset the circuit breaker if it has tripped.
- Low Oil Alert: If the low oil alert indicator is on, shut down the generator immediately and add engine oil to the correct level.
For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the comprehensive user manual provided with your generator.
