2.1 Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.

2.3 Winding the Bobbin
- Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
- Guide the thread through the upper thread guide and around the bobbin winding tension disc.
- Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle.
- Wind the thread a few times manually around the bobbin.
- Push the bobbin winder spindle to the right.
- Gently press the foot controller to start winding. The machine will stop automatically when the bobbin is full.
- Cut the thread and return the bobbin winder spindle to the left.
2.4 Threading the Machine
- Raise the presser foot lever.
- Place a spool of thread on the spool pin.
- Follow the numbered threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through all guides and the take-up lever.
- Thread the needle from front to back.

3.2 Free Arm Sewing
To sew tubular items like sleeves, cuffs, or trouser hems, utilize the free arm feature:
- Grasp the front accessory storage tray and pull it towards you to remove it.
- The narrow free arm is now exposed, allowing you to slide fabric around it for easier sewing of small, circular items.
- To return to flatbed sewing, simply slide the accessory tray back into place until it clicks.

3.3 Sewing a Buttonhole
The Elna eXplore 120 features a 4-step buttonhole function:
- Attach the Buttonhole Foot.
- Set the Stitch Pattern Dial to the first buttonhole step (usually indicated by a square symbol).
- Sew the first side of the buttonhole.
- Adjust the Stitch Pattern Dial to the subsequent steps (2, 3, 4) to complete the remaining sides and bar tacks of the buttonhole.
- Use the seam ripper to carefully open the finished buttonhole.
