Place the Charging Dock against a wall in an open, uncluttered area. Connect the Line Cord to the dock and plug it into a power outlet. Place the robot onto the charging dock, ensuring the charging contacts align. The robot will begin charging automatically.
2.2 iRobot Home App Setup
Download the iRobot Home App from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your Roomba Combo Essential Robot to your home Wi-Fi network. The app provides access to robot health monitoring, cleaning schedules, Clean Map reports, and smart home integrations.
2.3 Initial Mapping Run
Before the first cleaning, allow the robot to complete a mapping run of your home. This helps the robot learn your floor plan and optimize its cleaning paths. Ensure all doors are open to areas you wish the robot to map.
3. Operating Instructions

5. Troubleshooting
If your Roomba Combo Essential Robot encounters an issue, consult the iRobot Home App for diagnostic information and suggested solutions. Common issues include:
- Robot not charging: Ensure the charging dock is properly plugged in and the robot's charging contacts are clean and aligned with the dock.
- Poor cleaning performance: Check and clean the brushes, empty the dust bin, and clean or replace the filter. Ensure the water tank is filled for mopping.
- Navigation errors: Clear any obstacles from the robot's path. Ensure the robot's sensors are clean.
- Pet Waste: The J5 model (a higher-tier Roomba) includes advanced sensors to avoid pet waste. While the Essential model does not have this specific feature, it is designed to navigate around common household items.
