Key Components:

  • Clamp Jaw: For non-contact AC current measurement.
  • Function Dial: To select measurement modes.
  • LCD Display: 6000 counts, backlit for clear readings.
  • Input Jacks: For connecting test leads and temperature probes.
  • Buttons: For various functions like MAX/MIN, HOLD, FUNC, SEL, and flashlight.
  • Flashlight: Integrated for illuminating work areas.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the cover.
  3. Insert three (3) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads

  • Insert the red test lead into the "VΩHz" input jack.
  • Insert the black test lead into the "COM" input jack.
  • For temperature measurements, connect the temperature probes to the designated input jacks.

6. Operating Instructions

Turn the function dial to the desired measurement mode. The meter supports both intelligent auto-ranging and manual selection.

6.1 Smart Auto Mode

In Smart Auto Mode, the meter automatically identifies and measures AC/DC voltage, resistance, and continuity. This mode simplifies operation by eliminating the need for manual range selection.

6.2 AC Current Measurement (Clamp)

To measure AC current, select the AC Current mode on the dial. Open the clamp jaw and enclose a single conductor. Ensure the conductor is centered within the jaw for accurate readings. This method allows current measurement without breaking the circuit.

6.3 Inrush Current Measurement

The meter can measure inrush current for motors or starting circuits. Select the Inrush Current mode. This function is applicable only for AC current measurements, with a range of 5A to 600A. DC inrush current is not supported.

6.4 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Test

To perform an NCV test, select the NCV mode. Bring the meter's NCV sensor close to the conductor. The meter will provide audible and visual indications of AC voltage presence. A weak AC signal triggers a green indicator light and slow beeps, while a stronger signal results in a red indicator light and rapid beeps. This feature allows for safe voltage detection without direct contact.

6.5 Other Measurement Functions

  • AC/DC Voltage: Connect test leads to the circuit to measure voltage.
  • Resistance: Ensure power is off before connecting test leads to measure resistance.
  • Capacitance: Discharge capacitors before measurement.
  • Diode Test: Use test leads to check diode functionality.
  • Continuity: Test for circuit continuity with audible indication.
  • Frequency: Measure the frequency of AC signals.
  • Temperature: Use the included temperature probes for temperature readings.
  • Live Wire Detection: Identify live wires using the dedicated function.
  • Data Hold: Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading on the display.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the meter's casing with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the meter is dry before storage or next use.

7.2 Battery Replacement

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the "Battery Installation" section (5.1). Remove batteries if the meter will not be used for an extended period.

7.3 Storage

Store the meter in its carrying bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Meter does not power on.Dead or incorrectly installed batteries.Check battery polarity; replace batteries.
Inaccurate readings.Incorrect mode selection; poor test lead connection; external interference.Ensure correct mode; check lead connections; move away from strong electromagnetic fields.
No NCV detection. No AC voltage present; NCV sensor not close enough to conductor.Verify AC voltage with probes; ensure sensor is near the live conductor.
Display shows "OL" (Overload).Measurement exceeds the selected range.Switch to a higher range if available, or ensure the measured value is within the meter's limits.
