1. Introduction

The TESMEN TCM-300D Digital Clamp Meter is a versatile and essential tool designed for precise electrical measurements in both industrial and home settings. It features smart and manual measurement modes, allowing for accurate readings of AC/DC current and voltage, capacitance, non-contact voltage (NCV), inrush current, live wire detection, resistance, diodes, continuity, frequency, and temperature. This manual provides detailed instructions to ensure safe and optimal use of your device.

2. Safety Information

Always adhere to safety precautions when working with electrical equipment. The TCM-300D is certified to CAT III 600V and RoHS standards, and includes overload protection. However, improper use can lead to electric shock or damage to the meter. Read all instructions carefully before use.

  • Ensure the meter is in the correct measurement mode before connecting to a circuit.
  • Do not exceed the maximum input values for any function.
  • When measuring current with the clamp, ensure it encircles only a single live wire, not the entire power cable.
  • Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears.
  • Do not operate the meter if it appears damaged or is not functioning properly.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the meter.
  2. Use a small screwdriver to open the battery cover.
  3. Insert three AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery cover and secure it with the screw.

5.2 Connecting Test Leads

For voltage, resistance, continuity, diode, capacitance, and temperature measurements, connect the test leads:

  • Insert the red test lead into the 'VΩmA' input jack.
  • Insert the black test lead into the 'COM' input jack.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the red power button (⏻) to turn the meter on or off.

6.2 Smart Auto Mode

When powered on, the meter defaults to Smart Auto mode, automatically detecting the measurement type (voltage, resistance, continuity). To activate or deactivate Smart Auto mode, press and hold the FUNC/AUTO button.

6.3 Manual Function Selection

In manual mode (Smart Auto deactivated), repeatedly press the FUNC/AUTO button to cycle through available measurement functions (e.g., AC Current, DC Current, AC Voltage, DC Voltage, Resistance, Continuity, Diode, Capacitance, Frequency, Temperature, NCV/Live).

6.4 AC/DC Current Measurement (Clamp)

Use the clamp jaw for non-contact current measurement:

  1. Select AC Current (~A) or DC Current (⎓A) mode.
  2. Open the clamp jaw and encircle a single live conductor. Ensure the conductor is centered within the jaw.
  3. Read the current value on the display.
