Programming

Programming the keypad involves setting your personal access code and pairing it with your SCS Sentinel operator. Refer to the detailed programming guide included with your keypad for specific steps on setting your personal access code and pairing with your SCS Sentinel operator. This process typically involves entering a master code, then your desired personal code, and finally initiating a pairing sequence on your operator.

Operating

Entering Your Code

The keypad features tactile keys that require only a light touch for activation. To operate your gate or garage door:

  1. Enter your 8-digit personal access code.
  2. Press the designated activation key (e.g., the red dot key or a specific number key as per your programming).

Opening Functions

The keypad supports two primary opening functions:

  • Full Opening: Designed for vehicle access, this function fully opens your gate or garage door.
  • Partial Opening: This function allows for pedestrian, bicycle, or scooter access by opening the gate or door only partially.

The specific key or code sequence for each function is determined during the programming phase.

Operating Range

The keypad has an effective operating range of up to 50 meters from the compatible SCS Sentinel operator, provided there are no significant obstructions.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The keypad is equipped with a low battery warning buzzer. When you hear this buzzer, it indicates that the batteries need to be replaced soon. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section to replace the two CR2032 batteries.

Cleaning

To clean the keypad, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the keypad's surface or internal components.

Environmental Protection

The SCS Sentinel AAA0045 Wireless Keypad has an IP55 rating, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. While it is designed for outdoor use, avoid submerging it in water or exposing it to high-pressure water streams.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your wireless keypad, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Keypad Not Responding: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary. Ensure you are within the 50-meter operating range of your SCS Sentinel operator.
  • Gate/Door Not Opening: Verify that the access code is entered correctly. Confirm that the keypad is properly paired with your SCS Sentinel operator. Refer to the programming section of your manual or the operator's manual for re-pairing instructions.
  • Low Battery Warning Buzzer: This indicates that the CR2032 batteries are low and need to be replaced.
  • Intermittent Operation: This could be due to interference. Try to identify and remove any sources of radio interference near the keypad or operator. Ensure the keypad is securely mounted and not obstructed.

If problems persist after following these steps, contact SCS Sentinel technical support for further assistance.
