1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the proper installation and use of the SMALLRIG HawkLock H21 Quick Release Camera Monitor Mount, Model 4487. This mount is designed to securely attach a field monitor to your camera rig, offering flexible positioning and quick detachment capabilities. It features a NATO clamp for attachment to a NATO rail and a 1/4"-20 screw for monitor connection, supporting monitors up to 2.5 kg.

3. Key Features

• 3.1 Quick Release Mechanism

  The HawkLock H21 features a quick-release design. To attach, press the release button to extend the pins, then slide the NATO rail into the mount's groove. Releasing the button securely locks the rail, enabling efficient setup and breakdown.

• 3.2 360° Swivel & 160° Tilt Adjustment

  The monitor holder allows for a full 360° swivel and a 160° tilt range, providing versatile positioning. The tilt axis tightness can be adjusted using the knob, and the horizontal axis tightness can be fine-tuned with the included hex wrench to accommodate different monitor weights.

• 3.3 Anti-Twist Design

  Integrated bouncy locating pins on the top plate enhance monitor security, particularly for models like Ninja V/V+. A silicone pad is also included to prevent scratching and twisting of the monitor.

• 3.4 Wide Compatibility

  The mount is designed to hold 5-inch or 7-inch camera monitors, LED lights, or microphones via its 1/4"-20 screw. It is compatible with various monitor brands and models.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to install the monitor mount:

1. Attach NATO Rail to Camera Cage: Secure the provided NATO rail to your camera cage or other mounting system using the appropriate screws and the included Allen wrench. Ensure it is firmly tightened.
2. Attach Monitor Mount to NATO Rail: Press the quick release button on the monitor mount to extend the locking pins. Slide the monitor mount onto the installed NATO rail. Release the button to engage the pins and lock the mount in place.
3. Attach Monitor to Mount: Screw your 5-inch or 7-inch monitor onto the 1/4"-20 screw located on the top of the monitor mount. Ensure the monitor is securely fastened to prevent accidental detachment.

5. Operation

Once installed, the monitor mount offers flexible positioning:

• Adjusting Tilt: Loosen the large knob on the side of the mount to adjust the monitor's vertical tilt angle. Tighten the knob to secure the monitor in the desired position.
• Adjusting Swivel: The mount allows for 360° horizontal swivel. The tightness of this rotation can be adjusted using the included hex wrench on the corresponding screw.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your monitor mount:

• Regularly inspect all screws and connections for tightness. Re-tighten as necessary using the provided Allen wrench.
• Keep the mount clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Store the mount in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your monitor mount, consider the following:

• Monitor not holding position: Ensure the tilt adjustment knob is fully tightened. If the horizontal swivel is too loose, use the Allen wrench to adjust its tension.
• Difficulty with quick release: Ensure the release button is fully pressed when attempting to slide the mount on or off the NATO rail. Check for any obstructions in the rail groove.
• Mount feels unstable: Verify that both the NATO rail and the monitor are securely attached to their respective mounting points. Check for any loose screws.
