2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when operating the stump grinder. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.

General Safety Precautions:

• Read and follow the operator's manual before using.
• Never allow children or untrained individuals to operate the machine.
• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, ear and hearing protection, heavy-duty work gloves, and sturdy footwear.
• Keep bystanders, especially children and pets, at a safe distance (at least 75 feet) from the operating area.
• Before adding fuel, allow the engine to cool. Wipe up fuel spills immediately.
• Ensure the machine is on stable, level ground before starting or performing maintenance.
• Beware of flying debris.

3. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your MechMaxx SG380 stump grinder. Refer to the assembly video for visual guidance.

Assembly Steps:

1. Install Rubber Baffles: Attach the rubber baffles to the main body of the grinder using the provided bolts and nuts. Ensure they are securely fastened to contain debris during operation.
2. Install Wheels: Install the wheels onto the axle. Secure them with the appropriate hardware, ensuring they rotate freely.
3. Attach Push Rods: Connect the lower push rod to the body base, then connect the upper push rod to the lower push rod. Ensure all connections are secure.
4. Link Direction Lock Wire: Connect the direction lock wire. Adjust the pull wire upward if the rotating pin cannot be pulled out, ensuring smooth operation of the chassis lock.
5. Link Brake Cable: Connect the brake cable to the brake handle. Adjust the wheel brake tension by turning the top of the handle clockwise.
6. Install Throttle Control: Mount the throttle control to the upper push rod.
7. Connect Emergency Stop Wire: Link the emergency stop wire to the engine.
8. Install Battery: Place the 12V20Ah lead-acid battery in its compartment. Install the positive (red) and negative (black) wires at the corresponding positions on the battery terminals.
9. Connect Engine Electric Start Wire: Connect the engine electric start wire.
10. Add Oil and Fuel: Add 10W-30 oil to the engine and check the oil level using the dipstick. Fill the fuel tank with clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline.
11. Connect Towing Bar: Attach the towing bar to the front of the grinder. This allows for easy transport.

4. Operating Instructions

Once assembled and fueled, your MechMaxx SG380 is ready for operation. Always ensure the work area is clear of debris and bystanders.

Starting the Machine:

1. Ensure the safety press bar is engaged (pressed).
2. Turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position.
3. Adjust the throttle to the desired speed.
4. Release the safety press bar to begin grinding.

Grinding Operation:

• The 65° swinging chassis allows you to move the cutting wheel across the stump. Use the chassis lock handle to fix the tires for continuous work or release it for movement.
• Adjust the cutting height and depth as needed for different stump sizes. The machine can cut up to 15 inches above ground and 10 inches below.
• Move the grinder slowly and steadily across the stump, allowing the carbide teeth to efficiently reduce the wood to sawdust.
• For optimal performance, avoid forcing the machine. Let the grinder's power do the work.

5. Maintenance

• Engine Oil: Check the engine oil level before each use. Use 10W-30 oil. Ensure the oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick.
• Fuel: Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline. Do not use E85 or mixed fuels.
• Air Filter: Clean the air filter every 50 hours of use, or more frequently in dusty conditions. Refer to the engine manual for specific cleaning instructions.
