Operation

The Kohree 2-in-1 Adjustable Trailer Hitch offers flexibility for various towing needs:

  • Adjusting Height: The hitch allows for quick height adjustments up to 6 inches drop or rise. To adjust, remove the hitch pin lock securing the ball mount to the shank, slide the ball mount to the desired height, and re-insert and lock the pin.
  • Selecting Ball Size: The dual ball mount features a 2-5/16" ball (12,500 lbs GTW) and a 2" ball (8,000 lbs GTW). Choose the appropriate ball size based on your trailer's coupler and weight requirements. Ensure the trailer is properly seated and locked onto the chosen ball.
  • Anti-Rattle System: The included hitch tightener is designed to minimize movement and noise between the hitch and the receiver during towing. Periodically check that the tightener is securely fastened.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your trailer hitch:

  • Cleaning: Clean the hitch components regularly with mild soap and water to remove dirt, salt, and road grime. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Lubrication: Apply a light coat of grease to the hitch balls and the hitch pin locks periodically to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect all components for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Check for loose bolts or pins. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
  • Rust Prevention: The hitch features a rust-proof layer. However, prolonged exposure to harsh environments may still cause wear. Reapply a rust-inhibiting coating if necessary.

Troubleshooting

Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:

  • Hitch Rattle/Wobble: If you experience rattling or wobble, ensure the anti-rattle hitch tightener is correctly installed and tightened. Check that all hitch pins are fully inserted and locked.
  • Stuck Hitch Pin Locks: If the hitch pin locks are difficult to turn or remove, apply a penetrating lubricant to the keyhole and mechanism. Allow it to soak, then try again. Regular lubrication can prevent this issue.
  • Difficulty Adjusting Height: Ensure the hitch pin is fully removed before attempting to slide the ball mount. Clean any debris from the adjustment holes and apply a light lubricant if needed.
  • Loose Fit in Receiver: While the anti-rattle clamp addresses most play, if the hitch still feels excessively loose, verify that your vehicle's receiver is a standard 2-inch size and not worn.

Safety Information

Adhere to these safety guidelines when using your trailer hitch:

  • Weight Capacity: Never exceed the Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) or Tongue Weight (TW) ratings of your hitch, trailer, or tow vehicle. Always use the lower of the three ratings.
  • Proper Connection: Always ensure the trailer coupler is fully seated and locked onto the hitch ball. Use safety chains as required by law and connect them properly.
  • Pre-Trip Inspection: Before each trip, perform a thorough inspection of the hitch, trailer, and tow vehicle. Check all connections, lights, tires, and brakes.
  • Driving Safely: Drive cautiously when towing. Allow for increased stopping distances, wider turns, and reduced acceleration. Avoid sudden maneuvers.
  • Hitch Pin Locks: Always use the provided hitch pin locks to secure the hitch components and prevent theft or accidental detachment.
