1. Introduction
The CPVAN FSI-3001 is a networked photoelectric smoke detector designed to provide early warning of fire. This device features a 10-year sealed lithium battery, eliminating the need for frequent battery changes. It is pre-linked for wireless intercommunication, allowing up to 30 detectors to form a synchronized alarm system. Certified to European Standard EN14604, it emits an 85 dB alarm and includes a low-flashing LED for minimal disturbance during standby.
This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your CPVAN FSI-3001 smoke detector to ensure optimal performance and safety.
2. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present in the package:
- 6 x Photoelectric Smoke Detectors
- 6 x Magnetic Holders
- 12 x Screws
- 12 x Dowels
- 1 x User Manual
3. Safety Information
Please read and understand all instructions before installing and operating the smoke detector. Failure to follow these instructions may result in improper operation of the device, leading to property damage, injury, or death.
- Do not paint the smoke detector. Paint can clog the sensing chambers and prevent the unit from operating correctly.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the smoke detector. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Test the smoke detector weekly to ensure proper function.
- This smoke detector is designed for indoor use only.
- The battery is sealed and non-replaceable. Do not attempt to replace the battery.
- Ensure the detector is installed in accordance with local building codes and regulations.
4. Setup and Installation
The CPVAN FSI-3001 smoke detectors are pre-linked at the factory for immediate use in a networked system. A maximum of 30 wireless smoke detectors can be networked together. The transmission distance is over 300m outdoors.
4.1 Recommended Installation Locations
Install smoke detectors in all sleeping areas and on every level of your home, including the basement. For best protection, install a smoke detector in every room (except the kitchen and bathroom, where steam and cooking fumes can cause false alarms).

4.2 Mounting Options
The smoke detector can be installed using either screws and dowels or the magnetic holder for drill-free installation.
Option 1: Screw Installation
- Choose a suitable location on the ceiling or wall.
- Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark two drilling points.
- Drill holes and insert the provided dowels.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling/wall using the screws.
- Align the smoke detector with the mounting bracket and twist clockwise until it locks into place.
Option 2: Magnetic Holder Installation (No Drilling)
- Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, and smooth.
- Peel off the protective film from one side of the magnetic holder's adhesive.
- Attach this side firmly to the desired ceiling or wall location.
- Peel off the protective film from the other side of the magnetic holder's adhesive.
- Attach this side firmly to the back of the smoke detector.
- Align the magnetic holder on the detector with the magnetic holder on the ceiling/wall until they connect securely.

5. Operating Instructions
The CPVAN FSI-3001 smoke detector is designed for simple operation once installed.
5.1 Powering On
The device is activated by rotating the back cover to the "ON" position. A short beep and a flash of the LED indicate it is powered on and performing a self-test.
5.2 Normal Operation (Standby Mode)
In standby mode, the LED light flashes very dimly approximately every 600 seconds (10 minutes). This low-flashing feature is designed to be unobtrusive, especially during sleep, while still indicating that the detector is operational.

5.3 Alarm Mode
When smoke is detected, the red LED will flash brightly, and the alarm will sound at approximately 85 dB. If multiple detectors are networked, all linked detectors will activate their alarms simultaneously.
5.4 Test/Silence Button

- Testing: Press and hold the Test/Silence button for a few seconds. The alarm will sound, and the LED will flash, indicating the unit is functioning correctly. Release the button to stop the test.
- Silencing: In case of a false alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), press the Test/Silence button to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The detector will automatically reset after this period if no smoke is present.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the continued reliability of your smoke detector.
- Weekly Test: Press the Test/Silence button weekly to confirm the alarm sounds.
- Cleaning: Dust can accumulate on the detector, affecting its performance. Gently vacuum the exterior of the smoke detector with a soft brush attachment at least once a month. Do not use water or cleaning solvents.
- Battery Life: The smoke detector is equipped with a sealed 10-year lithium battery. The battery is non-replaceable. When the battery is low, the detector will emit a chirp sound and the LED will flash more frequently to indicate it needs replacement. Replace the entire unit after 10 years or when the low battery warning sounds.

7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Detector does not sound during test. | Unit not powered on, or battery depleted. | Ensure the back cover is rotated to the "ON" position. If still no response, the unit may need replacement due to battery depletion (after 10 years). |
| False alarms. | Steam, cooking fumes, dust, or high humidity. | Relocate the detector away from sources of steam or fumes. Clean the detector regularly. Press the Test/Silence button to temporarily silence the alarm. |
| Chirping sound or frequent LED flashes. | Low battery warning. | The sealed battery is nearing the end of its 10-year life. Replace the entire smoke detector unit. |
| Networked detectors do not all alarm. | Detectors are out of range or not properly linked. | Ensure all detectors are within the specified transmission range. If issues persist, refer to the pairing instructions (if applicable for re-linking, though factory pre-linked). |
