1. Introduction
The TOPDON NV001 is an advanced automotive thermal night vision system designed to enhance driving safety, particularly in low-light conditions, adverse weather, and at night. It provides an extended viewing range and utilizes AI recognition to identify pedestrians, vehicles, and animals, offering anti-collision warnings to help drivers react proactively to potential hazards.
2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing and operating the TOPDON NV001 system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the product or vehicle.
- Professional Installation Recommended: While installation is simplified, professional installation is recommended to ensure proper wiring and mounting, especially for permanent setups.
- External Mounting Required: The thermal camera must be mounted externally on the vehicle. It cannot detect heat signatures through vehicle window glass.
- Maintain Clear View: Ensure the camera lens is kept clean and free from obstructions like dirt, snow, ice, or water droplets, as these can significantly occlude thermal recognition.
- Driver Responsibility: The NV001 system is an aid to driving and does not replace the driver's responsibility to operate the vehicle safely and remain vigilant. Always observe road conditions and traffic laws.
- Power Source: Connect the system only to a 12V DC power source as specified. Incorrect voltage can damage the device.
- Avoid Distraction: Position the display screen in a location that does not obstruct the driver's view or cause distraction. Adjust brightness to a comfortable level.

4. Setup and Installation
The NV001 system is designed for user-friendly installation. There are two primary mounting options for the thermal camera: on the vehicle's grille or using the license plate frame.
4.1 Camera Mounting Options
- Grille Mounting:
Attach the thermal camera to the vehicle's front grille using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure the camera has a clear, unobstructed view of the road ahead.
- License Plate Frame Mounting:
Utilize the included license plate frame mounting kit to secure the thermal camera. This option may require drilling new holes in the license plate frame to match existing vehicle mounting points.
Important: The thermal camera must be mounted externally. It cannot function effectively through vehicle glass.
4.2 Wiring Connection
- Connect the thermal camera to the in-car display unit using the 5m coaxial cable.
- Plug the dual USB + 12V DC cigarette lighter power adapter into your vehicle's 12V power outlet.
- Connect the power adapter to the in-car display unit.
- Secure all cables to prevent interference with driving controls and to protect them from damage.

5. Operating Instructions
Once installed and powered on, the TOPDON NV001 system automatically begins to provide enhanced night vision and collision alerts.
5.1 Powering On/Off
- The system typically powers on automatically when the vehicle's ignition is turned on, provided it is connected to a switched 12V power source.
- Refer to the in-car unit's specific buttons for manual power control if available.
5.2 Extended Viewing Range
The NV001 offers an extended viewing range of up to 656 feet (200 meters), allowing drivers to perceive potential hazards much further ahead than with standard headlights alone. This provides critical extra time for reaction.

5.3 Enhanced Visuals and Clarity
The system features advanced image enhancement technology, upgrading thermal image clarity from 256x192 to 384x288 resolution. This ensures clearer vision in challenging conditions such as fog, rain, snow, and against the glare of oncoming headlights.

5.4 Dynamic AI Collision Alerts
The NV001 incorporates advanced AI to identify pedestrians, vehicles, and animals. It provides color-coded visual and audio warnings:
- Green: Object detected at a safe distance.
- Yellow: Object detected, requiring attention.
- Red: Object detected, indicating a potential collision risk.

5.5 Universal Compatibility
The NV001 is designed for broad compatibility with various vehicle types, including trucks, cars, RVs, buses, and jeeps, making it a versatile safety enhancement.

6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your TOPDON NV001 system.
- Cleaning the Camera Lens: Regularly inspect and clean the thermal camera lens. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild lens cleaning solution. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the lens.
- Cleaning the Display Unit: Wipe the display screen with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables for signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Ensure connections are secure.
- Environmental Protection: While the camera is IP69K waterproof, avoid exposing the in-car unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or excessive moisture.
