AVATTO Smart WiFi Mini Dimmer Module with wiring diagram and app interface

Image Description: This image displays the AVATTO Smart WiFi Mini Dimmer Module, a compact yellow device with blue terminal blocks. On its top surface, wiring labels (L, L1, N, S1) and load specifications (LED AC230V 150W, AC120V 80W) are visible. To the left, a smartphone screen shows the "Dimmer Module" app interface with a light bulb icon and a brightness slider set to 100%. In the upper right, a white wall switch is shown connected to the dimmer module, which is then connected to a light fixture, illustrating a typical installation setup within a wall box.

Component Identification:

  • L Terminal: Live wire input.
  • L1 Terminal: Output to the light fixture.
  • N Terminal: Neutral wire input (if applicable, though this model is advertised as "no neutral wire needed"). 6. Installation Guide

Before you begin: Ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker. This device requires a live wire connection and is designed for a 1-way circuit. While advertised as "no neutral wire needed," the device diagram shows an 'N' terminal, indicating it can be wired with a neutral if available and preferred for stability in some setups. For a no-neutral setup, the dimmer typically draws a small current through the load.

Wiring Diagram (Typical 1-Way Setup with No Neutral Wire):

  1. Turn off power: Locate the circuit breaker controlling the light fixture and turn it off. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove existing switch: Carefully remove the existing wall switch from the wall box.
  3. Identify wires:
    • Live Wire (L): This wire brings power from the circuit breaker.
    • Load Wire (L1): This wire goes to the light fixture.
    • Switch Wire (S1): If using a traditional wall switch, this wire connects the switch to the dimmer.
  4. Connect the Dimmer Module:
    • Connect the Live wire from the wall box to the 'L' terminal on the dimmer module.
    • Connect the Load wire (to the light fixture) to the 'L1' terminal on the dimmer module.
    • If using a traditional wall switch, connect one terminal of the switch to the 'S1' terminal on the dimmer module. Connect the other terminal of the switch to the 'L' terminal (Live wire) on the dimmer module.
    • Note on Neutral Wire: If your setup includes a neutral wire and you wish to use it for potentially more stable operation, connect the neutral wire from the wall box to the 'N' terminal on the dimmer module. However, the product is designed to function without it.
  5. Secure the module: Carefully place the dimmer module and wires into the wall box, ensuring no wires are pinched.
  6. Reinstall switch plate: Attach the switch plate.
  7. Restore power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

After installation, the connected light should turn on/off with the physical switch. Proceed to the setup section for smart functionality.

7. Smart App Setup and Pairing

This dimmer module works with the Smart Life app (Tuya Smart app is also compatible).

7.1 Download the App:

  • Search for "Smart Life" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Download and install the app.
  • Register a new account or log in with an existing one.

7.2 Pairing the Dimmer Module:

  1. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. (5GHz networks are not supported).
  2. Open the Smart Life app.
  3. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner to add a device.
  4. Select "Lighting" or "Electrical" category, then choose "Dimmer Switch (Wi-Fi)" or similar.
  5. Enter Pairing Mode: Turn the light connected to the dimmer module ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON (or similar sequence, consult the app for the exact sequence if different) until the connected light blinks rapidly. This indicates the dimmer is in pairing mode.
  6. Confirm the light is blinking rapidly in the app.
  7. Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
  8. The app will begin searching for the device. Once found, it will be added to your device list.
