Setup and Installation

The Good Earth Lighting LED Outdoor Security Flood Light offers two installation methods: plug-in or direct wire. Choose the method that best suits your needs.

1. Plug-in Installation

For plug-in installation, ensure you have a readily accessible 20-amp GFCI outdoor outlet. The light comes with a power cord for this purpose.

  1. Select a suitable mounting location near a 20-amp GFCI outdoor outlet.
  2. Secure the mounting bracket to the wall or eave using appropriate screws and wall anchors (if needed).
  3. Route the power cord through the designated opening in the mounting base. The base has punch-out sections to accommodate the cord for a flush mount.
  4. Attach the light fixture to the mounting bracket.
  5. Plug the power cord into the GFCI outlet.

2. Direct Wire Installation

For direct wire installation, the pre-attached plug can be removed. This method requires connecting the light directly to a junction box.

  1. WARNING: Disconnect power at the circuit breaker before beginning.
  2. If converting from plug-in to direct wire, carefully cut off the plug from the power cord.
  3. Strip the insulation from the wires to expose the copper conductors.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket to the junction box.
  5. Connect the light's wires to the corresponding household wires (black to black, white to white, ground to ground) using wire nuts.
  6. Carefully tuck all wires into the junction box.
  7. Attach the light fixture to the mounting bracket, ensuring a secure and weather-tight seal.
  8. Restore power at the circuit breaker.

Operating Instructions

The flood light features a motion sensor with adjustable settings for optimal performance.

Motion Sensor Settings:

  • Range Adjustment: Use the "RANGE" dial to set the motion detection distance. The sensor can detect motion up to 70 feet with a 180-degree detection angle.
  • Timer Adjustment: Use the "TIMER" dial to set how long the light remains on after motion is detected. Options typically range from 1 to 10 minutes.
  • Preset Setting: The light comes with a preset setting of 50 feet detection range and a 3-minute timer.

Adjust the individual light heads to direct illumination precisely where needed for maximum coverage.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the light fixture and motion sensor lens with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord (if applicable) and all connections for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion.
  • LEDs: The integrated LED lights are designed for long life (up to 50,000 hours) and are not user-replaceable.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on.No power, faulty connection, or sensor issue.Check power supply and circuit breaker. Verify all wiring connections are secure. Ensure the motion sensor is not obstructed.
Light stays on continuously.Sensor sensitivity too high, or constant motion detected.Adjust the "RANGE" dial to a lower sensitivity. Ensure there are no constant heat sources or moving objects within the detection zone.
Light turns on for no apparent reason.Sensor detecting small animals, wind-blown objects, or distant heat sources.Reduce the "RANGE" setting. Reposition the sensor to avoid unwanted triggers.
Light does not detect motion effectively.Sensor range too low, or sensor obstructed.Increase the "RANGE" setting. Clear any obstructions from the sensor's view. Ensure the sensor is aimed correctly.
