5. Setup
5.1 Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the supplied NP-FZ100 battery using the BC-QZ1 charger.
- Insert the battery into the BC-QZ1 charger.
- Connect the charger to a power outlet using the supplied power cord. The CHARGE lamp will illuminate orange during charging.
- The CHARGE lamp will turn off when charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 150 minutes.

5.2 Inserting a Memory Card
The a9 III supports dual CFexpress Type A / SD card slots.
- Open the memory card slot cover on the side of the camera.
- Insert the memory card (e.g., Sony 64GB SF-M Tough Series UHS-II SDXC) with the correct orientation until it clicks into place.
- Close the memory card slot cover securely.
5.3 Attaching the Lens
The a9 III uses the Sony E-mount system.
- Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the lens.
- Align the white index mark on the lens with the white index mark on the camera body.
- Mount the lens by rotating it clockwise until it clicks into place.
- To remove the lens, press the lens release button on the camera body and rotate the lens counter-clockwise.
6. Operating the Camera
6.1 Basic Shooting Modes
The mode dial on top of the camera allows you to select various shooting modes:
- P (Program Auto): The camera automatically sets aperture and shutter speed.
- A (Aperture Priority): You set the aperture, and the camera sets the shutter speed.
- S (Shutter Priority): You set the shutter speed, and the camera sets the aperture.
- M (Manual Exposure): You set both aperture and shutter speed.
- Auto: Fully automatic mode for simple point-and-shoot operation.
- 1, 2, 3 (Memory Recall): Recall frequently used camera settings.
6.2 Focusing
The a9 III offers advanced autofocus capabilities:
- AF-S (Single-shot AF): For still subjects. Focus locks when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
- AF-C (Continuous AF): For moving subjects. Focus continuously adjusts while the shutter button is pressed halfway.
- DMF (Direct Manual Focus): Allows fine-tuning focus manually after autofocus.
- MF (Manual Focus): Focus manually using the lens focus ring.
6.3 Video Recording
The a9 III supports 4K video recording with advanced features.
- Set the mode dial to the movie mode icon.
- Press the MOVIE button (usually a dedicated button or assigned custom button) to start recording.
- Press the MOVIE button again to stop recording.
- Adjust video settings (resolution, frame rate, picture profile) via the camera's menu system.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Camera
- Camera Body: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and then wipe dry.
- Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then a lens cleaning cloth with lens cleaning solution if necessary.
- Image Sensor: If dust spots appear in your images, use the camera's built-in sensor cleaning function. For persistent dust, consult a professional service center.
7.2 Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the camera in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Remove the battery before storage.
8. Troubleshooting
