5. Setup

5.1. Initial Configuration

The Srutueo ArtNet converter is typically factory-configured with an IP address in the 2.xxx range and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0, allowing for plug-and-play operation in most standard ArtNet networks. No immediate modification is usually required.

For specific network configurations or advanced settings, the IP address and other parameters can be modified using a PC configuration tool (provided on the included USB drive) or via a web browser interface. Refer to the software manual on the USB drive for detailed instructions on network configuration.

5.2. Physical Connections

  1. Power Connection: Connect the provided US plug power adapter to the DC9-12V input port on the front panel and then to a suitable power outlet (AC100-240V). The PWR LED should illuminate.
  2. Ethernet Connection: Connect one end of the provided internet cable to the Ethernet port on the converter and the other end to your ArtNet network switch or directly to a computer running ArtNet software. The Link LED should illuminate, and the STA LED may flash, indicating network activity.
  3. DMX Output Connection: Connect standard DMX512 cables from the DMX1 and/or DMX2 output ports on the rear panel to your DMX-compatible lighting fixtures or other DMX devices. Ensure correct DMX termination for long DMX chains.

6. Operation

6.1. ArtNet to DMX Conversion

Once connected and powered, the converter will automatically begin translating incoming ArtNet data from the network into DMX512 signals on the DMX output ports. Ensure your ArtNet control software is configured to send data to the converter's IP address and the correct ArtNet universe.

  • DMX Universe Mapping: Each DMX output port (DMX1, DMX2) corresponds to a specific ArtNet universe. This mapping can be configured via the web interface or PC tool if adjustments are needed.
  • OUT/IN Switch: Set the switch to 'OUT' for DMX output functionality. If the device supports bidirectional operation (DMX input to ArtNet), switch to 'IN' as required by your application.

6.2. Indicator Lights

  • PWR (Green): Solid green indicates the device is powered on.
  • STA (Red/Green): Flashing indicates data activity or operational status. Refer to the software manual for specific flash codes.
  • Link (Green): Solid green indicates an active Ethernet connection. Flashing indicates network data transmission.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the manufacturer's website or the provided USB software for potential firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power (PWR LED off):
    • Check if the power adapter is securely connected to the device and the power outlet.
    • Verify the power outlet is functional.
  • No Network Link (Link LED off):
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the converter and the network switch/computer.
    • Check the status of your network switch or computer's Ethernet port.
  • No DMX Output:
    • Verify that the ArtNet control software is sending data to the correct IP address and ArtNet universe mapped to the converter's DMX ports.
    • Check DMX cable connections to fixtures.
    • Ensure the OUT/IN switch is set to 'OUT'.
    • Confirm DMX fixtures are correctly addressed and powered.
  • Incorrect DMX Output:
    • Review the ArtNet universe mapping in the converter's configuration settings.
    • Check for DMX addressing conflicts in your lighting setup.
  • Device Unresponsive:
    • Press and hold the RESET button for a few seconds to restore factory default settings. Note that this will reset any custom IP configurations.
