4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your dog bike trailer.

  • Cleaning: The Oxford fabric can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Tires: Check tire pressure before each use. Inflate to the recommended 36-50 PSI. Inspect tires for wear, punctures, or flat spots.
  • Frame: The alloy steel frame is robust. Inspect for any signs of damage or corrosion.
  • Connections: Periodically check all bolts, nuts, and quick-release mechanisms for tightness and security.

5. Troubleshooting

Common issues and their solutions.

5.1 Tire Issues (Flat Spots, Bumps)

If you experience flat spots or a bumpy ride, check tire inflation. Ensure tires are inflated between 36 and 50 PSI. Excessive wear or flat spots may indicate a need for tire replacement.

5.2 Frequent Flats / Spoke Punctures

If tires frequently go flat or you suspect spoke punctures, inspect the rim liner. With the tire completely flat, remove the stem cap and pull the tire aside. Ensure the protective strip inside the rim is flat and covers all spoke anchors. If twisted, correct its position before re-inflating the tire.
