- Read the Manual: Understand all operating procedures and safety warnings before using the chainsaw.
- Inspect Before Use: Check the chainsaw for any damage, loose parts, or proper chain tension before each use.
- Clear Work Area: Ensure the area around you is clear of obstacles, bystanders, and pets.
- Maintain Firm Grip: Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands during operation.
- Proper Footing: Maintain stable and balanced footing while operating the chainsaw.
- Avoid Kickback: Be aware of the chain's rotation and potential kickback. Do not cut with the tip of the bar.
- Battery Safety: Use only the specified battery and charger. Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures or moisture.

Setup
Follow these steps to assemble your chainsaw before first use:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the packaging.
- Remove Cover: Use the provided Allen wrench to loosen and remove the two Allen screws securing the sprocket cover. Remove the cover and any washers.
- Install Chain on Bar: Place the chain onto the guide bar, ensuring it sits correctly in the groove.
- Place Chain Around Sprocket: Carefully position the chain around the drive sprocket on the chainsaw body. Ensure the plastic nubs on the chainsaw body align with the slot on the guide bar.
- Adjust Chain Tension: With the guide bar held snugly, turn the chain tensioner knob clockwise towards the '+' sign to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be taut enough that you can barely pull it off the bar, with minimal slack.
- Secure Cover: Replace the sprocket cover and tighten the two Allen screws firmly to lock everything in place.
- Add Bar and Chain Oil: Locate the oil reservoir cap (usually near the bar). Fill the reservoir with appropriate bar and chain oil (not included). This is crucial for chain lubrication during operation.
- Install Battery: Slide a charged 20V MAX* 4.0Ah battery into the battery slot until it clicks securely into place.

Operating Instructions
Your chainsaw is designed for efficient cutting of wood. Follow these guidelines for safe and effective operation:
- Starting the Chainsaw: Press the safety lock button (usually on the side of the handle) and then squeeze the trigger to start the chainsaw. Release the safety lock once the trigger is engaged.
- Cutting Technique: Apply steady, even pressure. Allow the chainsaw to do the work. Do not force the chain through the wood.
- Efficient Cutting Power: The Dereal Electric Chainsaw features a high-quality guide chain that has undergone a deep quenching process for smooth cutting. A pure copper motor provides powerful and efficient cutting.
- Tool-Free Chain Tensioning: The chainsaw features a tool-free chain tensioning system for effortless adjustments, ensuring optimal cutting performance.
- Battery Performance: The 20V MAX* 4.0Ah battery can achieve up to 80 cuts per charge on 4x4 pressure treated wood.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your chainsaw:
- Auto Oiler-System: The electric chainsaw is equipped with an auto chain lubrication system. Just pour oil (general motor oil) into the tank, and it will lubricate the chain, reducing wear and tear for smoother cutting.
- Chain Tension: Regularly check and adjust chain tension as described in the Setup section. A properly tensioned chain is crucial for safety and cutting efficiency.
- Storage: The manufacturer recommends storing the chainsaw with the oil cap facing up to prevent leaks.
- Chain Sharpening: The chainsaw comes with a high hardness toughened saw chain that is deeply hardened, sharper, and more wear-resistant. Sharpen or replace the chain as needed to maintain cutting performance.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your chainsaw, consider the following common solutions:
- Chainsaw Not Starting: Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted. Check that the safety lock is disengaged before pressing the trigger.
- Poor Cutting Performance: Verify that the chain tension is correct. A loose or overly tight chain can affect performance. Ensure the chain is sharp and properly lubricated.
- Chain Not Moving: Check for any debris or obstructions around the chain and sprocket. Ensure the chain is correctly seated in the guide bar groove.
- Oil Leaks: Ensure the oil reservoir cap is securely tightened. Store the chainsaw with the oil cap facing up as recommended.
