3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

The JolyWell Laser Tape Measure is equipped with a built-in rechargeable lithium battery. Before first use, fully charge the device.

1. Locate the USB-C charging port on the device.
2. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the device and the other end to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer USB port.
3. The battery indicator on the LCD display will show charging status. The device is fully charged when the battery icon shows full.

3.2 Power On/Off

• To power on: Press the READ button.
• To power off: Press and hold the OFF/CLEAR button for a few seconds until the display turns off. The device will also automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.

3.3 Unit Switching

You can switch between different measurement units (meters, inches, feet).

1. Ensure the device is powered off.
2. Press and hold the READ button for 5 seconds until "CRL" is displayed on the LCD screen. This enters the settings mode.
3. Short press the READ button to cycle through the unit options (m, in, ft).
4. Once your desired unit is displayed, continue to press and hold the READ button for 3 seconds to confirm and exit unit switching.

3.4 Measurement Baseline Setting

The laser measure can take measurements from either the front or the rear of the device.

1. Long press the MODE button for 3 seconds to toggle between front and rear baseline.
2. An icon on the LCD display will indicate the currently selected baseline.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Using the Tape Measure

The integrated tape measure extends up to 16 feet (5 meters) and features a movable magnetic hook for accurate external and internal measurements. The tape automatically locks in place when extended and retracts smoothly with the press of the retract button.

• Pull the tape measure out to the desired length. It will automatically lock.
• To retract, press the red button located on the side of the device.
• The magnetic hook can be attached to metal surfaces for stability or used to hook onto edges. The hook is designed to adjust for true zero point measurements.

4.2 Using the Laser Measure

The laser measure provides precise digital measurements up to 165 feet (50 meters).

1. Ensure the device is powered on.
2. Point the laser emitter towards the target surface.
3. Press the READ button once to activate the laser.
4. Press the READ button again to take a measurement. The result will be displayed on the LCD screen.

4.3 Measurement Modes

The device supports various measurement modes for different applications. Press the MODE button to cycle through the available modes.

• Direct Measurement: Measures the straight-line distance between two points.
• Area Measurement: Calculates the area of a rectangular space. Take two consecutive direct measurements (length and width).
• Volume Measurement: Calculates the volume of a space. Take three consecutive direct measurements (length, width, and height).
• Pythagorean Measurement (2-point): Calculates an unknown side of a right-angle triangle using two measured sides. Useful for indirect height or length measurements.
• Pythagorean Measurement (3-point): Calculates an unknown side using three measured points, often for more complex indirect measurements.
• Continuous Measurement (MAX/MIN): Continuously measures and displays the current distance, along with the maximum and minimum distances recorded during the continuous scan.

4.4 Self-Calibration / Accuracy Check

The device allows for accuracy adjustment if needed.

1. To check accuracy, measure a known distance (e.g., 1 meter) using both the tape measure and the laser measure. If the difference is within +/-1mm, no adjustment is needed.
2. If adjustment is required, turn off the laser measure.
3. Press and hold the READ button for five seconds until "CRL" is displayed on the LCD screen.
4. Short press the READ button to select the adjustment value (from -7mm to +7mm).
5. Press and hold the READ button for 3 seconds to save the setting and exit.

• Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the laser lens and display are clean for accurate readings.
