5. Setup and Assembly

Assembly is required for this product. Follow these steps to set up your Mellif MFKST001 Cordless String Trimmer.

5.1. Battery Installation

The Mellif MFKST001 is compatible with Dewalt 20V max batteries. To install the battery:

1. Align the battery pack with the battery port on the trimmer handle.
2. Slide the battery pack into the port until it clicks securely into place.
3. To remove, press the release button on the battery pack and slide it out.

5.2. Attaching Cutting Blades/String Head

The trimmer supports four different cutting options: Stainless Saw Blade, Stainless Flat Blade, Plastic Cutting Blades, and Plastic String Head. Choose the appropriate cutting accessory for your task.

5.2.1. Installing the Stainless Saw Blade

1. Install the plastic blade base onto the trimmer head.
2. Place the stainless saw blade and iron piece onto the shaft.
3. Tighten the nut with the provided wrench.

5.2.2. Installing the String Line

1. Install the plastic string line case.
2. Put in the string line head and thread the string out through the designated hole.
3. Put in the screw and tighten it with the screwdriver.
4. Install the string line cover.

1. Install the plastic blade base.
2. Install the flat blade and iron piece onto the shaft.
3. Tighten the nut with the provided wrench.

5.2.4. Installing the Plastic Blades

1. Install a plastic blade into one of the holes, pull it, and align the other hole.
2. Install the plastic blade base.
3. Tighten the base with a screw and screwdriver.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Starting and Stopping the Trimmer

To start the trimmer, engage the safety lock and then pull the trigger. To stop, release the trigger.

6.2. Adjusting the Handle and Head Angle

The handle and shaft length can be adjusted for optimal comfort and reach. Loosen the adjustment knob on the shaft, set the desired length, and then tighten the knob securely. The cutting head can be rotated 90 degrees by pressing the head retraction button and adjusting to the desired angle for trimming, edging, or mowing.

6.3. General Operation Tips

• Always hold the trimmer firmly with both hands.
• Maintain a balanced stance while operating.
• Use a sweeping motion to cut grass and weeds.
• Avoid hitting hard objects like rocks, fences, or concrete to prevent damage to the cutting line/blade and the trimmer.
• For edging, utilize the 90° adjustable head and the integrated wheels for smooth operation along pathways.

7.1. Cleaning

• After each use, remove the battery and clean the cutting head and shield from grass clippings and debris.
