5.2. Magnetic Attachment (for MagSafe-compatible phones)

The enclosure features built-in magnets for secure attachment to iPhone 15 series and newer models with MagSafe functionality. This allows for convenient, hands-free use, reducing the risk of accidental drops or disconnections during use, such as when recording video.

Note: This magnetic feature is only compatible with mobile phones that have magnetic suction functionality (MagSafe or equivalent).

5.3. Data Transfer

The enclosure supports USB 3.2 Gen 2, providing data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. This enables rapid transfer of large files, photos, and videos. It also supports UASP, TRIM, and S.M.A.R.T for optimized performance and drive health monitoring.

For optimal speeds, ensure your host device also supports USB 3.2 Gen 2. Older USB standards will result in lower transfer rates.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your FIDECO SSD enclosure:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Heat Dissipation: The aluminum casing and included thermal pad are designed for efficient heat dissipation. Ensure the enclosure is not covered or placed in an area with poor airflow during extended use to prevent overheating.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the enclosure with care to avoid physical damage. While the magnetic attachment is secure, avoid unnecessary force or impacts.

7. Troubleshooting

  • SSD Not Recognized:
    • Ensure the SSD is correctly installed and secured within the enclosure.
    • Verify the SSD is an M.2 NVMe 2230 (M-Key or M+B Key). SATA SSDs are not compatible.
    • Check the cable connection to both the enclosure and your device. Try a different USB-C port or cable if available.
    • If it's a new SSD, ensure it has been formatted (refer to Section 4.2).
    • Test the enclosure with a different SSD or on another compatible device to isolate the issue.
  • Slow Data Transfer Speeds:
    • Ensure your device's USB-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps). Older USB standards will limit speed.
    • Verify the cable used is rated for USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds.
    • Close any unnecessary applications on your device that might be consuming system resources.
    • Ensure the SSD itself is performing optimally.
  • Magnetic Attachment Not Strong Enough:
    • Confirm your phone has MagSafe or equivalent magnetic functionality.
    • If using a phone case, ensure it is MagSafe compatible or thin enough not to interfere with the magnetic connection.
    • Clean the magnetic surfaces on both the enclosure and your phone/case to ensure no debris is weakening the connection.
