1. Safety Instructions
Operating a chainsaw can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not followed. Always prioritize your safety and the safety of others. Read and understand all instructions before use.
1.1 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Head Protection: Wear a safety helmet to protect against falling branches.
- Eye Protection: Use safety glasses or a face shield to guard against flying debris.
- Ear Protection: Wear ear defenders or earplugs to prevent hearing damage from engine noise.
- Hand Protection: Use heavy-duty work gloves for grip and protection.
- Leg Protection: Wear chainsaw protective trousers or chaps to protect against cuts.
- Foot Protection: Wear steel-toed safety boots with good grip.
1.2 General Safety Guidelines
- Never operate the chainsaw when fatigued, under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
- Keep children, bystanders, and animals at a safe distance (at least 10 meters) from the work area.
- Inspect the chainsaw before each use for loose parts, damage, or fuel leaks. Do not operate a damaged chainsaw.
- Ensure the chain brake is functional and engaged when starting the saw or moving between cuts.
- Handle fuel with extreme care. Refuel in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources, and with the engine off and cool.
- Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the chainsaw handles.
- Be aware of kickback. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar.
- Always carry the chainsaw with the engine off, the guide bar and chain facing backward, and the chain brake engaged.

3. Setup
3.1 Assembly of Guide Bar and Chain
- Ensure the engine is off and the chain brake is disengaged.
- Remove the chain cover by loosening the two nuts.
- Place the guide bar onto the studs, ensuring the chain tensioner pin aligns with the hole in the guide bar.
- Carefully fit the chain around the drive sprocket and into the groove of the guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain teeth face forward on the top side of the guide bar.
- Replace the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.
3.2 Chain Tension Adjustment
Correct chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation.
- With the chain cover nuts slightly loose, use the tensioning screw (usually located on the side of the chainsaw) to adjust the chain tension.
- The chain should be snug against the guide bar, but still able to be pulled freely by hand. There should be no slack on the underside of the guide bar.
- Lift the tip of the guide bar slightly while tightening the chain cover nuts firmly.
- Recheck the tension. If adjusted correctly, the chain should snap back into place when pulled away from the guide bar by about 1/8 inch (3mm).
3.3 Fuel and Chain Oil Filling
This chainsaw uses a gasoline-oil mixture for fuel and separate chain oil for lubrication.
- Fuel Mixture: Mix unleaded gasoline with 2-stroke engine oil at the ratio specified in the engine manual (typically 25:1 or 50:1, refer to engine specifications for exact ratio). Use a clean fuel container.
- Chain Oil: Fill the chain oil reservoir with high-quality bar and chain oil. This oil automatically lubricates the chain and guide bar during operation.
- Ensure both caps are securely tightened after filling.
4. Operation
4.1 Starting the Engine (Easy Start)
- Place the chainsaw on a firm, flat surface. Ensure the chain brake is engaged.
- Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible in the return line.
- Set the choke lever to the 'FULL CHOKE' position.
- Pull the starter cord firmly and steadily until the engine fires (usually a few pulls). Do not pull the cord to its full extension.
- Once the engine fires, immediately push the choke lever to the 'HALF CHOKE' or 'RUN' position.
- Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before disengaging the chain brake and beginning work.
4.2 Basic Cutting Techniques
- Always maintain a balanced stance and firm grip on both handles.
- Engage the chain brake when moving between cuts or when the saw is idling.
- Start cutting with the bottom of the guide bar (pulling chain) for most cuts.
- Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar to prevent kickback.
- Be aware of the direction of falling timber and clear the area of bystanders.
4.3 Stopping the Engine
To stop the engine, simply press the engine stop switch to the 'OFF' position.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chainsaw.
5.1 Chain Sharpening
A sharp chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly using a round file of the correct diameter (refer to chain specifications) and a filing guide.
5.2 Guide Bar Maintenance
- Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove sawdust and debris.
- Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.
- Check the guide bar rails for burrs and file them smooth if necessary.
5.3 Air Filter Cleaning
Clean the air filter after every 5-10 hours of operation, or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm soapy water or compressed air. Ensure it is completely dry before reinstallation.
5.4 Spark Plug Maintenance
Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean any carbon deposits and adjust the electrode gap if needed. Replace the spark plug annually or if it shows signs of wear or damage.
5.5 Automatic Oiler Check
Ensure the automatic oiler is functioning correctly by checking for oil spray from the chain tip when the engine is running at medium speed over a light surface.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine won't start | No fuel, incorrect choke setting, fouled spark plug, clogged fuel filter | Check fuel level and mixture, adjust choke, clean/replace spark plug, clean/replace fuel filter |
| Engine starts but stalls | Incorrect idle speed, clogged air filter, stale fuel | Adjust idle screw, clean air filter, use fresh fuel |
| Chain not cutting efficiently | Dull chain, incorrect chain tension, worn guide bar | Sharpen chain, adjust chain tension, inspect/replace guide bar |
| No chain oil flow | Empty oil reservoir, clogged oil port, faulty oil pump | Refill oil, clean oil port, consult service center for pump issues |
| Excessive vibration | Loose components, damaged chain/bar, engine imbalance | Check all fasteners, inspect chain/bar for damage, consult service center |
