2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or property damage.

  • Low Voltage Operation: This light operates on a 12V AC input. A transformer is required to convert standard AC120V household current to AC12V. The transformer is not included and must be purchased separately.
  • Professional Installation Recommended: Due to the electrical nature and underwater application, professional installation by a qualified electrician is highly recommended.
  • Waterproof Rating: The light is IP68 rated, meaning it is fully sealed and protected against continuous immersion in water. Ensure all connections are properly sealed and waterproofed according to local electrical codes.
  • Power Disconnection: Always disconnect power to the pool lighting circuit at the breaker before attempting any installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
  • Cable Management: Ensure the 50-foot cord is routed safely and securely, away from sharp edges or potential damage.

This light is designed for direct installation into standard 10-inch wet niches, eliminating the need for additional rings, housing, or gaskets. Ensure you have a compatible 10-inch niche before proceeding.

5.1 Power Requirements

The FOXLUX pool light requires a 12V AC power supply. If your existing wiring is 120V AC, a step-down transformer (AC120V to AC12V) is essential. This transformer is not included and must be purchased separately. Ensure the transformer's wattage capacity is sufficient for the number of lights connected (e.g., a 160-watt transformer can power up to six 24-watt lights).

5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Disconnect Power: Turn off the main power to your pool lighting circuit at the breaker. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare Niche: Ensure your existing 10-inch wet niche is clean and free of debris.
  3. Cable Routing: Route the 50-foot power cord through the conduit to the control box. Leave approximately 4 feet of cable coiled around the fixture within the niche for future servicing.
  4. Connect Wiring: Connect the light's 12V AC wires to your transformer's 12V AC output, following all local electrical codes and manufacturer instructions for the transformer. Ensure all connections are waterproof.
  5. Mount Light: Align the light with the 10-inch niche. The light features a 12 o'clock pilot screw and a 6 o'clock tang for secure fitting. Fasten the light securely into the niche.
  6. Seal: Ensure the light is properly seated and sealed within the niche to maintain its IP68 waterproof integrity.
  7. Restore Power: Once installation is complete and all connections are secure and waterproof, restore power to the circuit.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your FOXLUX pool light, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Light Does Not Turn On:
    • Check if the power supply to the light is active at the circuit breaker.
    • Ensure the transformer (if used) is functioning correctly and providing 12V AC output.
    • Verify the remote control battery is installed correctly and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the remote control is within the operating range (up to 180 feet) and has a clear line of sight to the light (or its receiver).
  • Light Flickers or Changes Colors Incorrectly:
    • Check for stable 12V AC power supply. Fluctuations can affect performance.
    • Ensure the remote control battery is not low.
    • Interference from other electronic devices might affect remote signal. Try operating closer to the light.
  • Remote Control Not Responding:
    • Replace the 23A 12V battery.
