1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, the camera must be fully charged using the provided USB-C cable. This ensures the internal battery is at full capacity before relying on solar power for maintenance charging.

3.2 App Installation and Wi-Fi Connection

  1. Download the "Vicohome" app from your device's app store (App Store or Google Play).
  2. Follow the in-app instructions to create an account and add your device.
  3. Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz only. The device is not compatible with 5GHz networks.
  4. Position the feeder within effective range of your router to ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal.
  5. During setup, be aware that alert sounds and voice prompts from the camera can be very loud.

3.3 Mounting Options

The onlyfly BF-X2 offers versatile mounting options:

  • Tree Mount: Use the included strap to secure the feeder to a tree.
  • Wall/Fence Mount: Utilize the screws and anchors from the mounting kit for flat vertical surfaces.
  • Pole Mount: Use the metal clips for poles of various sizes.
  • Tripod Mount: A tripod adapter is included for mounting on a camera tripod.

When selecting a location, consider adequate sunlight exposure for the solar panels and a spot where the camera is not facing directly into harsh sunlight for optimal video quality.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Live Stream and Notifications

The 2K HD camera provides a live stream of your bird feeder. You will receive instant notifications on your mobile device whenever motion is detected, ensuring you do not miss any visiting birds.

4.2 AI Bird Identification

The AI bird recognition feature can identify different species of visitors. This feature includes a 30-day free trial, after which a subscription is required to continue using AI functionalities. To perform AI recognition, click the bird icon below the playback video in the app.

4.3 Video Capture and Storage

The camera captures videos of detected activity. These videos can be saved to a local SD card (up to 128GB supported) or to cloud storage. Cloud storage typically requires a subscription after an initial free trial period (e.g., 30 days free AI, 3-day loop free for the first month). Videos can be downloaded from the app to your phone's storage.

4.4 Sharing Features

You can share real-time bird watching with up to four people simultaneously through the app. Captured moments and videos can also be shared with loved ones or posted on social media.

4.5 DIY Add-ons

The feeder includes nectar feeders, fruit forks, and a jelly feeder. These accessories can be attached to attract a wider variety of bird species to your backyard.

4.6 Squirrel Deterrence

The camera system may include features such as a siren or warning light to help deter squirrels and other unwanted critters from the feeder.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Refilling Bird Seed

The seed reservoir is designed to automatically replenish the feeding tray. Monitor the seed level and refill as needed by opening the top of the feeder.

5.2 Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the bird feeder is recommended to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases among birds. The feeder can be easily slid from its mounting bracket for thorough cleaning without removing the bracket itself.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure the feeder is within range of your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi router. The device does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • AI Features Not Working: The AI bird identification feature is free for the first 30 days. A subscription is required to continue using it thereafter.
  • SD Card Not Recognized: Ensure the SD card is properly inserted into the slot. If issues persist, try reformatting the card or using a different compatible SD card (up to 128GB).
  • Loud Alert Sounds: The camera's alert sounds and voice prompts can be very loud during setup. Adjust settings in the app if necessary.
  • Battery Not Charging: Ensure the solar panels receive adequate direct sunlight. Verify the short cable connecting the roof (solar panel) to the charging port is securely connected. The camera requires an initial full charge via USB-C before relying solely on solar power.
