Please read these instructions carefully before beginning assembly and retain them for future reference. The COLUMI loft bed is designed to offer a practical and space-saving solution for children's rooms, featuring a comfortable sleeping area, integrated storage, and a mattress.

2. Safety Information

  • Age Restriction: This bed is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
  • Maximum Load: The maximum weight capacity for the bed is 80 kg. Do not exceed this limit.
  • Assembly: Ensure all components are correctly assembled and all fasteners are securely tightened before use. Regularly check all connections to ensure they remain tight.
  • Fall Hazard: Do not allow children to play unsupervised on the bed or to jump on the mattress.
  • Mattress Fit: Use only a mattress of the specified size (90 x 190 cm) to prevent gaps that could pose a entrapment hazard.

4. Setup and Assembly

The Vente-unique COLUMI Loft Bed is designed for self-assembly. We recommend two adults for assembly. Ensure you have sufficient space and standard household tools (e.g., screwdriver, hammer) available.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully unpack all boxes and lay out the components on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches. Identify each part using the provided diagrams.
  2. Follow Diagrams: Refer to the detailed assembly diagrams provided in the separate assembly guide (if applicable) or the technical drawing below. Assemble the main bed frame structure first.
  3. Attach Ladder and Safety Rails: Securely attach the ladder and safety rails according to the instructions. These are crucial for safety.
  4. Install Storage Units: Assemble and integrate the wardrobe, shelves, and drawers into the bed frame. Ensure drawers slide smoothly.
  5. Place Bed Base: Position the hardboard bed plate securely within the bed frame.
  6. Position Mattress: Place the DANAED mattress on the bed base.
  7. Final Check: Before use, double-check all screws, bolts, and fasteners to ensure they are fully tightened.

5. Operating and Usage

The COLUMI loft bed is designed for a single user and provides both a sleeping area and integrated storage.

  • Sleeping Area: The bed accommodates a standard 90 x 190 cm mattress. The sleeping height is approximately 103 cm from the floor.
  • Access: Use the integrated ladder to safely access and exit the bed. Always face the ladder when climbing up or down.
  • Storage: Utilize the open wardrobe with its clothes rail, 8 niches (shelves), and 2 drawers for organizing clothing, accessories, books, and toys.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Bed Frame: Wipe the bed frame surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Fastener Checks: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) check all screws, bolts, and connections to ensure they are still tight. Re-tighten if necessary to maintain stability and safety.
  • Mattress Care: The DANAED mattress is reversible (winter and summer side). Rotate and flip the mattress regularly (e.g., every 3 months) to ensure even wear and prolong its lifespan. Follow any specific care instructions provided with the mattress.
  • Drawer Maintenance: If drawers become stiff, clean the runners and apply a small amount of silicone spray or wax to ensure smooth operation.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Bed feels wobbly: Check all assembly fasteners and tighten any that are loose. Ensure the bed is placed on a level surface.
  • Drawers are difficult to open/close: Inspect the drawer runners for obstructions or damage. Clean the runners and apply a lubricant if needed. Ensure the drawer is correctly aligned in its track.
  • Squeaking noises: Identify the source of the squeak. Often, it's a loose joint. Tighten the corresponding fasteners. Applying a small amount of wax or silicone spray to joints can also help.
