4. Setup and Connection

The DROK USB Tester is designed for plug-and-play operation. Follow these steps to set up and connect the device:

  1. Identify Ports: The tester has a USB-A input, a USB-C input, and two output ports: OUTPUT I (USB-A) and OUTPUT II (USB-A).
  2. Connect Power Source: Plug the USB-A or USB-C input of the tester into your power source (e.g., wall charger, power bank, computer USB port). The display should light up.
  3. Connect Device: Plug the device you wish to test (e.g., smartphone, tablet, USB fan) into either OUTPUT I or OUTPUT II of the tester.
  4. Activate Output (if necessary): If using USB-C IN and USB-A OUT, or if the display shows no readings, long press Button I for 5 seconds to activate the output. This is typically required when voltage is ≥ 5V.

Understanding Dual USB Outputs:

  • OUTPUT I (USB-A): Supports both device charging and data transfer. The charging current is determined by compatibility between the power source and the connected device.
  • OUTPUT II (USB-A): Designed for device charging only. It features a built-in intelligent charging control IC that automatically matches the most appropriate and safest current for your devices. Suitable for both original and non-original chargers.

5. Operation

The DROK USB Tester features a simple two-button interface for controlling its functions and display modes.

Button Functions:

  • Button I (Top Button):
    • Long Press (5 seconds): Activates output when voltage is ≥ 5V (especially for USB-C IN and USB-A OUT configurations).
    • Long Press (5 seconds) at the same time as Button II: Resets accumulated capacity data.
  • Button II (Bottom Button):
    • Short Press: Switches between the 7 display modes.
    • Long Press (5 seconds) at the same time as Button I: Resets accumulated capacity data.

Display Modes:

The tester cycles through 7 display modes with each short press of Button II:

  1. VA (Voltage & Current): Displays real-time voltage (V) and current (A).
  2. C (Capacity): Displays accumulated capacity (mAh).
  3. P (Power): Displays real-time power (W).
  4. VA+C: Displays Voltage, Current, and accumulated Capacity.
  5. VA+P: Displays Voltage, Current, and Power.
  6. C+P: Displays Capacity and Power.
  7. VA+C+P: Displays Voltage, Current, Capacity, and Power.

To reset the accumulated capacity (mAh) reading, simultaneously long press both Button I and Button II for 5 seconds.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your DROK USB Tester, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water.
  • Storage: Store the tester in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts, which can damage internal components or the display.
  • Cable Care: Do not bend the integrated USB cables excessively or pull on them forcefully, as this can damage the internal wiring.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DROK USB Tester, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Display does not light up.
  • Ensure the tester is properly plugged into a working USB power source.
  • Check if the power source is active and providing sufficient voltage (min. 3.2V).
  • Try a different USB port or power adapter.
No current (A) reading, or 0.00A displayed.
  • Ensure the device being tested is properly connected to an output port (OUTPUT I or OUTPUT II).
  • Verify the device is drawing power (e.g., charging, operating).
  • If using USB-C IN and USB-A OUT, long press Button I for 5 seconds to activate output.
  • The device might be fully charged or drawing very low current (below the tester's sensitivity).
  • Try a different USB cable between the tester and the device.
Voltage (V) reading is unstable or incorrect.
  • Ensure stable power supply from the source.
  • Check for loose connections.
  • The power source might be fluctuating or faulty.
Cannot reset accumulated capacity (mAh).
  • Ensure you are simultaneously long pressing both Button I and Button II for at least 5 seconds.
Display flashes quickly.
  • Voltage flashing (≥5.6V): Indicates an over-voltage alarm. Disconnect immediately if the voltage is too high for your device.
  • Current flashing (≥3A): Indicates an over-current alarm. Ensure your device and power source can handle this current.
  • Current flashing (short-circuit): Indicates a short-circuit alarm. Disconnect immediately and check for faulty cables or devices.
