1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your iZEEKER Trail Camera Solar (Model: iG420). Please read this manual thoroughly before using the camera to ensure proper function and longevity of the device. This camera is designed for outdoor use, specifically for wildlife monitoring and game trailing, capturing high-resolution photos and videos with motion activation and night vision capabilities.

2. What's in the Box

Upon unboxing your iZEEKER Trail Camera, verify that all components are present:

  • 1 x iG420 Solar Trail Camera
  • 1 x 32GB SD Card (Preinstalled)
  • 1 x Charging Cable

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the built-in lithium-ion battery for at least 8 hours using the provided USB cable. The charging indicator light will turn green when fully charged.

3.2 Battery Installation (Optional Backup)

While the camera has a built-in rechargeable battery and solar panel, you can insert 4 AA batteries (not included) as a backup power source for extended use, especially in low-light conditions. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

3.3 SD Card Insertion and Formatting

Your camera comes with a 32GB SD card preinstalled. For optimal performance and to prevent data corruption, it is recommended to format the SD card upon first use. The camera supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards up to 128GB. Micro SD cards with adapters are not supported.

3.4 Powering On and Initial Settings

Slide the power switch to the "ON" position. The camera's LCD screen will activate. You will be prompted to select your language and set the current time and date. It is crucial to set these accurately for proper timestamping of your recordings.

3.5 Mounting the Camera

Use the provided mounting strap to secure the camera to a tree or post. Ensure the solar panel is positioned to receive maximum direct sunlight. The camera also features a tripod mount for alternative installation. The front-facing lens and LCD screen allow for easy aiming during mounting.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Modes of Operation

The iG420 offers multiple operating modes:

  • Photo Mode: Captures still images.
  • Video Mode: Records video clips with audio.
  • Photo + Video Mode: Captures a still image followed by a video clip.
  • Time Lapse Mode: Takes photos at set intervals, useful for observing long-term events.

Navigate through the menu using the arrow buttons and press OK to select your desired mode.

4.2 Capturing Photos and Videos

The camera features a sensitive PIR (Passive Infrared) sensor that detects motion within its range. Upon detection, the camera triggers instantly within 0.1 seconds to capture footage according to your selected mode. The PIR interval can be set to as short as 2 seconds to ensure no moments are missed.

4.3 Night Vision Capabilities

Equipped with 40 850nm low glow infrared LEDs, the camera captures clear images and footage even in complete darkness. These LEDs provide illumination without startling wildlife.

4.4 Video and Photo Resolution

The camera supports various resolutions:

  • Video: 4K, 2K, 1080P, 720P, 480P. (AVI format)
  • Photo: Up to 48MP.

Adjust these settings in the menu to balance image quality with storage space. Higher resolutions consume more memory.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Camera

Regularly clean the camera lens and solar panel with a soft, dry cloth to ensure optimal performance. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that could scratch the surfaces.

5.2 Battery Management

The integrated solar panel provides continuous power, significantly extending battery life. However, if using backup AA batteries, monitor their charge level via the LCD screen and replace them when low to prevent interruption of recordings. The camera supports continuous loop recording, overwriting old files when the SD card is full, which helps maintain continuous operation without manual intervention.

5.3 Weather Protection

The camera is built with IP66 waterproof material, making it suitable for use in various weather conditions, including rain. Ensure all latches are securely closed to maintain its waterproof integrity.
