4. Key Features and Functions

The EASYGUARD ESW309B-N-PP system offers the following functionalities:

  • Upgrade to Push Start: Converts your vehicle's turn key start ignition to a modern push start system.
  • Passive Keyless Entry (PKE): Automatically locks or unlocks the vehicle when the key fob is within 2-3 meters of the car. PKE functionality can be enabled or disabled.
  • Remote Control Functions:
    • Remote Lock/Unlock
    • Trunk Release
    • Power Window Up & Down (optional, only if the factory key has this feature)
  • Enhanced Security: Prevents vehicle startup if the key fob is not detected inside the car.
  • Additional Keys: Includes two new key fobs.
  • Flexible Start Method: Allows switching between turn key start and push start, primarily for key fobs with BE or BE4 style keys. Other key fob styles will primarily use the push start button.
  • Plug and Play Installation: Designed for simplified installation without soldering the car ignition cylinder or the factory key's PCB.
  • Remote Working Range: Approximately 20-30 meters.

5. Setup and Installation

Warning: This item requires installation by a trained alarm installer or locksmith. Do not attempt installation if you lack experience with such products.

5.1. Pre-Installation Checks

  • Confirm your vehicle is a 2014+ Mercedes Benz FBS4 model with a turn key start ignition.
  • Ensure your OEM key fobs and PCB match the examples provided in the product images.
  • Gather all necessary tools for disassembling the ignition cylinder and the car's factory key.

5.2. Installation Steps (Overview)

  1. Carefully un-install the vehicle's ignition cylinder.
  2. Disassemble the car's factory key.
  3. Connect the ESW309B-N-PP system using the provided plug-and-play wire harness. No soldering of the ignition cylinder or factory key's PCB is required.
  4. After completing all wiring connections, proceed to the programming method described in Section 6.1.
  5. Once key soldering (if applicable for your specific factory key type) is finished, ensure the control module cover is securely put back in place before attempting to start the car. Failure to do so may prevent the car from starting.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Remote Control Programming

After completing the wiring connection, new programming is required for the remote controls:

  1. Locate the white programming switch on the system's control module.
  2. Press and hold the white programming switch. Do not release it.
  3. While holding the switch, quickly press the "Lock" button once on the remote control you wish to program.
  4. The indicator light on the remote will flash, signifying successful programming.
  5. If programming is unsuccessful, check the remote control batteries or unplug and re-plug the power connector, then try again.

6.2. Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) Operation

  • Once a remote control is programmed and the PKE antenna is connected, the indicator light will remain on if the remote control is nearby.
  • When the indicator light is on, the vehicle can be started.
  • If the key fob is moved approximately 5 meters away from the vehicle, the indicator light will turn off, and the vehicle cannot be started.
  • PKE can be enabled or disabled via the remote control (refer to Figure 4.2).

7. Troubleshooting

  • Vehicle will not start after installation:
    • Ensure the key fob is inside the vehicle and the PKE indicator light is on.
    • Verify that the control module cover has been securely re-installed after any key soldering or internal modifications.
    • Confirm that the remote controls have been properly programmed as per Section 6.1.
    • Check all wiring connections for proper seating and integrity.
  • Remote control not responding:
    • Check the remote control batteries.
    • Attempt to re-program the remote control (Section 6.1).
    • Ensure you are within the effective remote working range (20-30 meters).
  • PKE function not working:
    • Ensure PKE is enabled via the remote control (refer to Figure 4.2).
    • Verify that the PKE antennas are correctly installed and connected.
    • Confirm the key fob is within the 2-3 meter range for automatic lock/unlock.

If issues persist, it is recommended to contact a trained alarm installer or locksmith for assistance.
