1. Introduction and Overview

The ZIBOO i600E is a 600Amp AC Current Clamp designed to measure alternating current (AC) without breaking the circuit. It provides a millivolt (mV) AC output signal, making it compatible with most multimeters and mV AC measurement tools that accept 4mm banana plugs. This device is engineered for utility and compact design, ensuring accurate current readings for various electrical testing applications.

Key Features:

  • Compatible with most multimeters or mV AC measurement tools (e.g., FLUKE 106, 107, 15B PRO, 18B+, 115C, 116C, 117C, 175C, 177C).
  • 600 mV AC range output.
  • 1 mV/A AC output for straightforward current readings on your meter.
  • CAT III 600 V safety rating.
  • Compact design for ease of use.
  • Enables accurate current measurement without interrupting the electrical circuit.

2. Safety Information

Always adhere to standard electrical safety practices when using this current clamp. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, injury, or damage to the equipment.

  • The ZIBOO i600E has a CAT III 600 V safety rating. Ensure your multimeter also meets or exceeds this rating for the intended application.
  • Do not attempt to measure current on circuits exceeding the specified voltage or current limits.
  • Inspect the clamp and its leads for any damage before each use. Do not use if damaged.
  • Ensure the clamp jaws are fully closed around a single conductor for accurate and safe measurement.
  • Refer to IEC 61010-1:2000-1 for general safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use.

4. Setup

To prepare your ZIBOO i600E AC Current Clamp for use, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure your multimeter is powered off.
  2. Connect the 4mm banana plugs from the ZIBOO i600E clamp to the appropriate input jacks on your multimeter. Typically, the red plug connects to the 'VΩmA' or 'V' input, and the black plug connects to the 'COM' (common) input.
  3. Set your multimeter to the AC millivolt (mV AC) range. The ZIBOO i600E outputs 1mV for every 1A of AC current measured.
  4. Power on your multimeter.

5. Operating Instructions

To measure AC current using the ZIBOO i600E AC Current Clamp:

  1. Ensure the clamp is properly connected to your multimeter and the multimeter is set to the mV AC range as described in the Setup section.
  2. Identify the single conductor (wire) through which you want to measure AC current. Do not clamp around multiple conductors or an entire power cord, as this will result in an inaccurate or zero reading.
  3. Open the jaws of the current clamp by pressing the lever.
  4. Place the open jaws around the single conductor.
  5. Release the lever to close the jaws securely around the conductor. Ensure the jaws are fully closed.
  6. Read the millivolt (mV) value displayed on your multimeter.
  7. Convert the mV reading to Amperes (A) using the 1 mV/A conversion factor. For example, if your multimeter reads 100 mV, the current is 100 Amperes.
  8. After measurement, open the jaws and remove the clamp from the conductor.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your ZIBOO i600E AC Current Clamp.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the clamp with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the jaws are free of dust and debris.
  • Storage: Store the clamp in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided carrying pouch for protection when not in use.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the cable and banana plugs for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace if necessary.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using your ZIBOO i600E AC Current Clamp, consider the following:

  • No Reading or Zero Reading:
    • Ensure your multimeter is set to the mV AC range, not current (Amperes) or DC voltage.
    • Verify that the clamp jaws are fully closed around a single conductor. Clamping around an entire power cord (which contains both live and neutral wires) will result in a zero reading because the magnetic fields cancel each other out.
    • Check that the banana plugs are securely inserted into the correct multimeter jacks.
    • Confirm the circuit you are testing has active AC current flowing.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the clamp jaws are clean and fully closed.
    • Verify the multimeter's accuracy and calibration.
    • Avoid strong external magnetic fields that could interfere with the measurement.
  • Physical Damage: If the clamp or cable appears damaged, discontinue use immediately and contact support.
