REIBII 4-Tier Heavy Duty Garage Shelving

Model: 4LB100L

1. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety during assembly and use of the REIBII 4-Tier Heavy Duty Garage Shelving. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in injury or damage to the product or property.

  • Weight Limits: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 2000 lbs for the entire unit, or 500 lbs per individual shelf. Overloading can cause structural failure and collapse.
  • Proper Assembly: Ensure all components are correctly assembled and securely interlocked as per the instructions. Incomplete or incorrect assembly can compromise stability.
  • Wear Protective Gear: It is recommended to wear the provided gloves during assembly to protect hands from potential scratches or sharp edges.
  • Stable Surface: Place the shelving unit on a flat, level, and stable surface to prevent tipping.
  • Wall Anchoring: For added stability and safety, especially in areas with seismic activity or if heavy items are stored on upper shelves, consider anchoring the unit to a wall. Wall screws are not included but recommended.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the shelving unit during assembly and ensure they do not climb on or play around the assembled unit.
  • Avoid Damp Environments: The MDF boards are susceptible to moisture. Avoid prolonged exposure to damp or wet conditions to prevent warping or damage.

2. Setup Instructions

The REIBII shelving unit features a boltless interlocking design for quick and easy assembly. No nuts or bolts are required. A rubber hammer and gloves are included to assist with the process.

2.1. Unpacking and Component Check

Carefully unpack all components and verify against the parts list in the included instruction manual. Ensure all pieces are present and undamaged before beginning assembly.

2.2. Assembly Steps

  1. Assemble Upright Posts: Connect the upright posts using the provided connectors. Ensure the rolled edge columns are correctly aligned.
  2. Attach Crossbars: Insert the horizontal crossbars into the slots on the upright posts. The bars should snap in from the inside of the posts. Use the rubber hammer to gently tap them into place, ensuring both circular tabs are fully engaged in the slots for a secure fit.
  3. Install Support Ribs: Place the support ribs underneath the center of each shelf frame. These provide additional stability and load-bearing capacity.
  4. Place MDF Boards: Lay the 5mm thick MDF boards onto the assembled shelf frames.
  5. Adjust Shelf Height: The height of each shelf is adjustable. To change a shelf's position, carefully lift the MDF board, disengage the crossbars from the upright posts, reposition them to the desired height, and re-secure them with the rubber hammer. Then replace the MDF board.
  6. Final Tightening: Once all shelves are in place, use the rubber hammer to firmly tap all joints to ensure maximum stability.

3. Operating Instructions

The REIBII 4-Tier Heavy Duty Garage Shelving is designed for versatile storage in various environments.

3.1. Loading the Shelves

  • Even Distribution: Distribute weight evenly across each shelf to maintain stability and prevent stress on individual points.
  • Weight Capacity: Each shelf can hold up to 500 lbs, with a total unit capacity of 2000 lbs. Do not exceed these limits. Place heavier items on lower shelves for better stability.
  • Item Placement: Ensure items do not protrude excessively from the shelves, which could cause imbalance or obstruction.

4. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your REIBII shelving unit.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the metal frame and MDF boards with a dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Moisture Protection: The MDF boards are not waterproof. If used in a potentially damp environment, consider applying a sealant or paint to the boards to protect them from moisture and extend their lifespan.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all connections and joints to ensure they remain secure. Re-tap with a rubber hammer if any looseness is detected.
  • Weight Distribution: Continuously ensure that weight is distributed evenly and that the maximum load capacity is not exceeded.

5. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues that may arise during assembly or use.

5.1. Difficulty Assembling / Flimsy Feel

  • Bars Not Snapping In: Ensure the crossbars are inserted from the inside of the upright posts. Verify that both circular tabs on the crossbar ends are aligned with and fully engaged in the slots before tapping with the rubber hammer.
  • Unit Feels Flimsy: The unit gains significant stability as more components are assembled and all joints are firmly tapped into place. After full assembly, use the rubber hammer to go over all connections again, ensuring they are tightly seated.
  • Warped Metal Supports: Handle metal components carefully during assembly. If a support appears warped, gently try to straighten it before assembly. If severely warped, contact customer support for replacement parts.

5.2. Shelf Boards (MDF) Issues

  • Boards Seem Flimsy: The 5mm MDF boards are designed to support the stated weight when properly installed with the central support ribs. Ensure the support ribs are correctly positioned under each board. For very heavy or pointed items, consider adding a thicker, more rigid surface on top of the MDF board.
  • Moisture Damage: If MDF boards show signs of swelling or warping due to moisture, they may need to be replaced. Consider sealing or painting new boards if the unit is in a humid environment.
