Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your MINELAB X-Terra Elite and ensure consistent performance:
- Cleaning: After each use, especially in wet or dirty conditions, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth. For the search coil, rinse with fresh water. Ensure all connections are dry before storage.
- Battery Care: Always use the recommended Lithium Ion batteries. If storing the detector for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
- Storage: Store your detector in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The collapsible design allows for compact storage.
- Coil Protection: The V12X coil comes with a skidplate. Ensure it is properly attached to protect the coil from scratches and impacts.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your X-Terra Elite, try these basic troubleshooting steps:
- No Power: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. Check for any loose connections.
- Erratic Signals: This can be caused by electromagnetic interference (EMI) from power lines, cell phones, or other electronic devices. Try moving to a different location or reducing sensitivity. Ground balance the detector if necessary.
- No Target Response: Check that the search coil is properly connected and that the detector is in an appropriate search mode for the target type. Ensure sensitivity is not set too low.
- Display Issues: If the display is dim or unresponsive, check the battery level and ensure the backlight settings are appropriate for the ambient light.
