1. Product Overview

The avigator CM-330 Coffee Maker is designed for convenience and efficiency, featuring a large 60oz (1.8L) capacity, programmable LCD, and a built-in warming plate. This manual provides detailed instructions for safe and effective use of your coffee maker.

2. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials from the coffee maker. Ensure all components are present: main unit, glass carafe, and reusable filter basket.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the glass carafe and reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning):
    • Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the 12-cup mark.
    • Place the empty reusable filter basket into its holder. Do not add coffee grounds.
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Press the ON/OFF button to start a brew cycle. Allow the cycle to complete.
    • Discard the water from the carafe. This process cleans the internal components and removes any manufacturing residues.
  4. Setting the Clock:
    • Plug in the coffee maker. The LCD display will show "12:00 AM" or flash.
    • Press the HOUR button to set the current hour. Press and hold for faster adjustment.
    • Press the MIN button to set the current minute. Press and hold for faster adjustment.
    • The clock is a standard 12-hour format. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set.

3. Operating Instructions

  1. Filling the Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and pour fresh, cold water into the reservoir. Use the water level indicator on the side to fill to your desired number of cups (up to 12 cups / 60oz). Do not exceed the MAX fill line.

  2. Adding Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter basket into its holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup. Adjust to your taste. Close the top lid securely.
  3. Placing the Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe is properly seated on the warming plate.
  4. Brewing Coffee:
    • Standard Brew: Press the ON/OFF button once. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
    • Strong Brew: Press the STRONG button before pressing ON/OFF. The strong brew indicator will light up, and the brewing process will be slower to extract a bolder flavor.
  5. Anti-Drip Feature: The anti-drip system allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup of coffee. The flow of coffee will pause automatically. Return the carafe to the warming plate within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
  6. Keep Warm Function: After brewing, the built-in warming plate will automatically maintain the coffee at an optimal temperature for up to 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, the coffee maker will automatically shut off for safety and energy saving. Caution: The warming plate can become hot during and after operation.

  8. Programmable Auto-Brew:
    • Press the PROG button. The display will show "PROG" and the time will flash.
    • Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set your desired brew start time.
    • Press the PROG button again to confirm the setting. The display will return to the current time, and a small clock icon or "PROG" indicator will appear, signifying the auto-brew is set.
    • At the set time, the coffee maker will automatically begin brewing.

4. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee maker.

  1. Daily Cleaning:
    • Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
    • Remove the reusable filter basket and discard used coffee grounds. Wash the filter basket and glass carafe in warm, soapy water or on the top rack of a dishwasher.
    • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, including the warming plate, with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.

  2. Descaling (Monthly or as needed): Mineral deposits from water can build up and affect performance. Descale your coffee maker regularly.
    • Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio).
    • Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
    • Run a full brew cycle.
    • After the cycle, turn off the coffee maker and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
    • Run two full cycles with clean water to rinse out any vinegar residue.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your coffee maker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
