5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation and Charging
- Helicopter Battery: Insert the 7.4V 1200mAh modular battery into the helicopter's battery compartment. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
- Charging: Connect the helicopter battery to the dedicated USB charging cable. Plug the USB cable into a suitable USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The charging indicator light will show the charging status. Charging time is approximately 90 minutes per battery.
- Remote Controller Battery: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote controller. Insert 4x 1.5V AA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment.
5.2 Binding the Remote Controller
- Ensure both the helicopter and remote controller are powered off.
- Place the helicopter on a flat, level surface.
- Turn on the helicopter. The indicator lights will flash.
- Turn on the remote controller. Move the left throttle stick all the way up, then all the way down.
- The helicopter's indicator lights will stop flashing and remain solid, indicating successful binding.
5.3 Pre-Flight Checks
- Ensure all batteries are fully charged.
- Verify the remote controller is bound to the helicopter.
- Check that all propellers are securely attached and free from damage.
- Select an open, clear area for flight, away from people, animals, and obstacles.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Flight Controls
The GoolRC C189 uses a 4-channel control system:
- Left Stick (Throttle/Yaw):
- Move up/down to control altitude (throttle).
- Move left/right to control yaw (rotation).
- Right Stick (Pitch/Roll):
- Move up/down to control pitch (forward/backward flight).
- Move left/right to control roll (left/right sideward flight).

6.2 Take-off and Landing
- One-Key Take-off: After binding, press the one-key take-off button on the remote controller. The helicopter will automatically ascend and hover at a stable altitude.
- Manual Take-off: Slowly push the left throttle stick upwards. The main rotors will begin to spin. Continue to push the stick up until the helicopter lifts off the ground.
- One-Key Landing: Press the one-key landing button. The helicopter will automatically descend and land gently.
- Manual Landing: Slowly pull the left throttle stick downwards. The helicopter will descend. Once it touches the ground, pull the stick all the way down to stop the rotors.

6.3 Flight Modes and Speed Adjustment
- 6G Mode: The 6-axis gyroscope provides enhanced stability, making it ideal for beginners. This mode is typically active by default.
- Speed Adjustment: The remote controller features a speed mode switch (Low, Moderate, High) to adjust the helicopter's responsiveness and speed according to your skill level and flying environment.

7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
- Always power off the helicopter and remove the battery before cleaning.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the fuselage and landing gear.
- Gently remove any dust or debris from the main and tail rotors. Avoid using water or harsh chemicals.
7.2 Propeller Replacement
- If a propeller is damaged, replace it immediately with a spare from the package.
- Use the provided screwdriver to carefully remove the screw holding the damaged propeller.
- Install the new propeller, ensuring it is oriented correctly, and secure it with the screw. Do not overtighten.
7.3 Battery Care and Storage
- Always use the dedicated USB charger provided.
- Do not overcharge or over-discharge the batteries.
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- If storing for extended periods, charge batteries to approximately 50% capacity.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Helicopter does not respond to remote. | Not bound, low remote battery, helicopter battery low. | Re-bind the remote. Replace remote batteries. Charge helicopter battery. |
| Helicopter drifts during hover. | Uneven surface during startup, trim settings incorrect, wind interference. | Ensure helicopter is on a level surface for startup. Adjust trim buttons. Fly in calmer conditions. |
| Rotors spin but helicopter does not lift off. | Low helicopter battery, damaged propellers, debris obstructing rotors. | Charge helicopter battery. Replace damaged propellers. Clear any obstructions. |
| Short flight time. | Battery not fully charged, old battery, aggressive flying. | Ensure battery is fully charged. Consider replacing old batteries. Practice smoother flying. |
