1. Safety Information
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before installing or operating this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death. Keep this manual for future reference.
Electrical Precautions:
- Do not walk on wet areas of the basement until all power has been turned off. If the main power supply is in a wet basement, call an electrician.
- Never handle the control unit with wet hands or while standing on a wet surface.
- Always unplug the control unit and disconnect the cables from the battery before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- Always unplug the main pump when installing or servicing the backup pump or float switch to avoid electric shock.
- Do not expose the control unit to rain or snow.
- Do not pull the cord when disconnecting the control unit. Pull the plug.
Battery Precautions:
- Explosive gases could cause serious injury or death. Cigarettes, flames, or sparks could cause the battery to explode in enclosed spaces. Charge in a well-ventilated area. Always shield eyes and face from battery. Keep vent caps tight and level.
- Never smoke or allow a spark or flame in the vicinity of the battery.
- Use the VEVOR sump pump battery backup system only with a 12V deep cycle battery. Do not use the control unit for charging dry-cell batteries that are most commonly used with home appliances.
- Be sure the area around the battery is well-ventilated.
- When cleaning or adding water to the battery, first fan the top of the battery with a piece of cardboard (or another non-metallic material) to blow away any hydrogen or oxygen gas that may have been emitted from the battery.
- Do not drop a metal tool onto the battery. It might spark or short-circuit the battery and cause an explosion.
- Remove personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, watches, etc. when working with a lead-acid battery. A short circuit through one of these items can melt it, causing a severe burn.
- Always remove the charger from the electrical outlet before connecting or disconnecting the battery cables. Check the polarity of the battery cables. The positive (+) battery post usually has a larger diameter than the negative (-) post.

5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, the VEVOR Sump Pump Battery Backup System operates largely automatically, providing seamless power during outages.
Normal Operation:
- When connected to AC power, the inverter charges the connected 12V deep cycle battery and passes AC power to the sump pump(s).
- The LCD display will show the input voltage (from AC mains), output voltage (to sump pump), load power, and battery charging status.
Power Outage Operation:
- In the event of a power outage, the inverter will automatically switch to battery power within milliseconds, ensuring uninterrupted operation of your sump pump(s).
- The LCD display will indicate the battery voltage as the input and the AC output voltage being supplied to the pump(s).
- The system will continue to power the sump pump(s) until the battery charge is depleted or AC power is restored.
Using USB/USB-C Ports:
- The inverter includes USB and USB-C ports for charging small electronic devices. These ports are active when the inverter is powered on, regardless of AC input status.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your VEVOR Sump Pump Battery Backup System.
General Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the inverter with a dry, soft cloth. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris to prevent overheating.
- Connections: Regularly check all electrical connections (battery terminals, AC plugs, sump pump plugs) to ensure they are tight and free from corrosion.
- Battery Inspection: If using a lead-acid battery, check the electrolyte levels periodically and add distilled water if necessary (refer to battery manufacturer's instructions). Keep battery terminals clean.
Fuse Replacement:
- The system includes 40A fuses for protection. If a fuse blows, replace it with an identical 40A fuse. Always disconnect power from the inverter and battery before replacing fuses.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your VEVOR Sump Pump Battery Backup System, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
Common Issues and Solutions:
- No Power Output:
- Check if the inverter is turned on.
- Verify battery connections are secure and correctly polarized.
- Ensure the battery is charged.
- Check the AC input power cord connection.
- Inspect fuses for any blown fuses and replace if necessary.
- Alarm Sounds/Error on LCD:
- The LCD display provides real-time status and error indicators. Refer to the display for specific warnings (e.g., low voltage, overload, overheat).
- Overload Protection: If an overload is detected, the inverter will shut down. Disconnect some load, then restart the inverter. Ensure total load does not exceed 2000W.
- Low Voltage Protection: If the battery voltage drops too low, the inverter will shut down to protect the battery. Recharge the battery.
- Overheat Protection: If the internal temperature is too high, the inverter will shut down. Ensure proper ventilation and clear any obstructions from the cooling fans.
- Short Circuit Protection: The inverter will shut down if a short circuit is detected. Identify and resolve the short circuit before restarting.
- Battery Not Charging:
- Ensure the AC input power cord is securely plugged into a live outlet.
- Check the power cord and internal fuses.
- Verify battery connections are correct.
