1. Introduction

The GeekTale Fingerprint Door Lock (Model K13) offers a secure and convenient access solution for your bedroom, office, or apartment. Featuring advanced fingerprint recognition, Bluetooth app control, and traditional key access, this smart door knob provides multiple ways to secure your space. It is designed for indoor use only and boasts a long-lasting rechargeable battery.

2. Setup and Installation

The GeekTale Fingerprint Door Lock is designed for easy installation on standard doors, typically taking about 15 minutes with a screwdriver. All necessary hardware is included.

2.2 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the door: Ensure your door has a standard bore hole and backset. The latch is adjustable to fit 60mm or 70mm backsets.
  2. Install the latch: Insert the latch mechanism into the door edge and secure it with screws.
  3. Install the exterior knob: Place the exterior knob through the door, ensuring the spindle aligns with the latch.
  4. Install the interior knob: Connect the interior knob to the exterior knob using the provided screws. Ensure all wires are properly connected and tucked away.
  5. Test the lock: After installation, test the mechanical operation of the knob and latch before proceeding with electronic setup.

3. Operating Instructions

The GeekTale Fingerprint Door Lock offers multiple convenient unlocking methods.

3.1 Unlocking Methods

  • Fingerprint Unlock: The lock stores up to 20 different fingerprints and unlocks in approximately 1 second using its advanced recognition technology. Simply place your registered thumb or finger on the sensor.
  • App Control (Bluetooth): Use the dedicated smartphone application to manage users, share E-keys, and view access logs. Connect via Bluetooth to unlock the door without using a fingerprint.
  • Remote Unlock (with Wi-Fi Gateway - Sold Separately): For remote unlocking and voice control (Alexa/Google Home via "Smart Life" skill), a Wi-Fi gateway is required. Connect the gateway to the lock to enable these features.
  • Key Unlock: Traditional physical keys are provided for backup access.

3.2 Three Mode Features

The biometric door lock offers three distinct modes, changeable by turning the button on the interior knob:

  • Auto Lock: The door will automatically lock after a set period (e.g., 5 seconds) once closed. To enter, a registered fingerprint, app unlock, or physical key is required.
  • Passage Mode: Turn the interior knob to the left and unlock with a fingerprint or the app. The door will remain unlocked, allowing free passage without requiring re-authentication.
  • Privacy Mode (Security Mode): Only the administrator's fingerprint or the app can unlock the door. This provides an extra layer of security for sensitive areas.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Charging

The smart door knob features a built-in rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours and provides up to 8 months of battery life under normal usage. Recharge the lock using the provided USB cable when the battery indicator in the app shows low power.

4.2 Cleaning

Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Fingerprint not recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Try re-registering your fingerprint in the app.
  • Lock not responding: Check the battery level in the app. If low, recharge the lock.
  • App connectivity issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and the lock is within range. If using a Wi-Fi gateway, verify its connection and proximity to the lock.
