Model: DMS03G

Important Safety Instructions

Always read and understand this instruction manual completely before operating the DOVAMAN 12-Inch Dual-Bevel Sliding Miter Saw. Failure to follow all instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
  • Personal Safety: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and a dust mask. Do not overreach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
  • Miter Saw Specific Safety: Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped before cutting. Keep hands clear of the blade path. Never reach into the blade area while the saw is running. Allow the blade to reach full speed before beginning a cut.
  • Blade Guard: The transparent blade guard must always be in place and functioning correctly to ensure visibility and safety during operation.
  • Initial Alignment Check: Your compound miter saw was adjusted at the factory. However, slight misalignment may occur during shipment. Check the miter cutting angle and make adjustments, if necessary, prior to using this compound miter saw.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Inspection

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Inspect the saw for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. If any damage is found, do not operate the saw and contact customer support.
  3. Verify that all included components are present as listed in the 'Components Included' section.

2. Initial Adjustments and Alignment

While the saw is factory-adjusted, it is crucial to verify and adjust alignment before first use to ensure accurate cuts.

  1. Blade Installation: The 40T TCT blade is pre-installed. Ensure it is securely fastened and the teeth are oriented correctly for cutting.
  2. Fence Alignment: Check that the fence is perpendicular to the blade at 90 degrees. If adjustment is needed, refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for adjusting the fence.
  3. Miter Angle Calibration: Verify the accuracy of the miter angle scale and positive stops. Make test cuts on scrap material to confirm precision.
  4. Bevel Angle Calibration: Check the bevel angle settings. Adjust if necessary to ensure accurate 0° and 45° bevel cuts.
  5. Dust Bag Attachment: Attach the dust bag to the dust port to help manage sawdust during operation.
  6. Side Plates/Workpiece Supports: Install the side plates or workpiece supports to provide stable support for longer materials.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

  • Connect the saw to a suitable 120V AC power outlet.
  • To turn on the saw, depress the safety lock button and then squeeze the trigger switch.
  • To turn off the saw, release the trigger switch. The blade will stop rotating.

2. Miter Angle Adjustment

The saw features nine common angle presets for quick and accurate miter cuts.

  1. Loosen the miter lock knob.
  2. Rotate the turntable to the desired miter angle. The base features positive stops at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 30°, and 45° on both left and right sides.
  3. Securely tighten the miter lock knob to fix the angle.

4. Sliding Function

For wider workpieces, utilize the sliding rail system.

  1. Ensure the slide lock knob is disengaged (unlocked).
  2. Pull the saw head forward, then push it back through the workpiece during the cut.
  3. For non-sliding cuts, engage the slide lock knob to fix the saw head in position.

5. Laser Guide Operation

The integrated laser guide provides a visual cutting line for enhanced accuracy.

  1. Locate the laser activation switch (if separate from the main power switch).
  2. Activate the laser. A red line will project onto the workpiece, indicating the blade's cutting path.
  3. Align the laser line with your desired cut mark on the material.

6. Cutting Procedures

Always ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped and stable before making any cuts.

  1. Place the workpiece firmly against the fence and on the saw table. Use the support clamp for added stability.
  2. Adjust miter and/or bevel angles as required for your cut.
  3. Activate the laser guide and align the cut line.
  4. Start the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed.
  5. Slowly lower the saw head through the workpiece. For sliding cuts, pull the saw head forward, lower it, and then push it smoothly through the material.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your DOVAMAN miter saw.

  • Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the saw from power and clean off sawdust and debris using a brush or compressed air. Keep ventilation openings clear.
  • Blade Care: Regularly inspect the saw blade for sharpness, damage, or missing teeth. Replace dull or damaged blades promptly. Always use a 12-inch blade with a 40T TCT (Tungsten Carbide Tipped) configuration suitable for woodworking.
  • Carbon Brushes: The saw includes two extra carbon brushes. Carbon brushes wear down over time and need replacement when they reach their wear limit. Refer to the full manual for detailed instructions on how to inspect and replace carbon brushes.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to moving parts, such as the sliding rails, to ensure smooth operation.
  • Fasteners: Check all nuts, bolts, and screws periodically to ensure they are tight. Tighten any loose fasteners.
