3. Setup Instructions
There are two primary methods to set up your COTDLNK Wi-Fi Extender:
3.1 WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) Method
- Plug the Wi-Fi extender into a power outlet near your main router.
- Wait for the power indicator light on the extender to become stable.
- Press the WPS button on your main router.
- Within 60 seconds, press the WPS button on the COTDLNK Wi-Fi Extender.
- The extender's signal indicator light will change to indicate a successful connection. You can then unplug the extender and move it to a desired location within your router's Wi-Fi range.
Note: If your router does not have a WPS button, or if the WPS method fails, please use the Web Interface Method.
3.2 Web Interface Method
- Plug the Wi-Fi extender into a power outlet near your main router.
- On your computer or mobile device, connect to the extender's default Wi-Fi network (e.g., "COTDLNK_EXT" or similar, check the label on the device). No password is required for the initial connection.
- Open a web browser and enter the default IP address or domain name (e.g., "192.168.1.1" or "repeater.net", check the user manual included in the package or the device label) into the address bar.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create an administrator password and select your main Wi-Fi network to extend.
- Enter the password for your main Wi-Fi network.
- Once configured, the extender will restart. You can then unplug it and move it to a desired location.
Tip: For optimal performance, place the extender halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone.
4. Operating Modes
The COTDLNK Wi-Fi Extender typically supports two operating modes:
4.1 Repeater Mode (Default)
In Repeater Mode, the device wirelessly connects to your existing router's Wi-Fi network and re-transmits the signal, extending its coverage. This is ideal for eliminating Wi-Fi dead zones in your home or office.

Image: Diagram illustrating how the Wi-Fi extender expands the wireless coverage from a main router to cover a larger area, including previously unreachable spots. It shows the router signal (orange) and the extended COTDLNK Repeater WLAN-Signal (purple) reaching various devices.
4.2 Access Point (AP) Mode
In AP Mode, the extender connects to your router via an Ethernet cable and transforms your wired network connection into a wireless access point. This is useful for creating a new Wi-Fi network in a room with only a wired internet connection.

The right panel shows a person using a laptop connected via an Ethernet cable to the extender, demonstrating wired to wireless network conversion via the WAN/LAN port.

6. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the extender is securely plugged into a working power outlet. Check if the power indicator light is on.
- Cannot Connect to Extender's Wi-Fi: Ensure you are connecting to the correct default network name (SSID) of the extender during initial setup. If already configured, connect to the extended network.
- No Internet Access After Setup:
- Verify that your main router has an active internet connection.
- Ensure the extender is placed within the range of your main router's Wi-Fi signal.
- Re-run the setup process, ensuring you enter the correct password for your main Wi-Fi network.
- Try resetting the extender to factory defaults (usually by pressing a reset button for 5-10 seconds) and reconfigure.
- Slow Speed or Intermittent Connection:
- Relocate the extender closer to your main router.
- Avoid placing the extender near large metal objects, microwaves, or other devices that may cause interference.
- Ensure the extender's firmware is up to date (check the manufacturer's website).
- If using 2.4 GHz, try switching to 5 GHz if your devices support it, as 5 GHz generally offers higher speeds with less interference over shorter distances.
- WPS Setup Fails: Some routers may have issues with WPS. Try the Web Interface Method instead.
7. Maintenance
- Keep Clean: Regularly wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Ventilation: Ensure the extender is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.
- Firmware Updates: Check the COTDLNK official website periodically for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Avoid Extreme Conditions: Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
