Wavlink Wi-Fi Extender Troubleshooting and FAQ

Troubleshooting: Cannot get internet from Wavlink device in Repeater Mode

Issue: After configuring the device as a repeater, internet access is unavailable.

  1. Disable the MAC filter of the host router. This prevents the Wavlink device from being blocked.
  2. Change the channel of the host router. A crowded channel can cause issues. For 2.4GHz, try channels 1, 6, or 11. For 5GHz, try channels 36, 40, or 44.
  3. Ensure the correct Wi-Fi password for the host router is entered when repeating the signal.
  4. Adjust the position of the Wavlink device. Aim for 2 or 3 signal bars from the host router.
  5. Reset the device by pressing the reset button for 6 seconds and reconfigure it. Resetting can resolve many unexpected problems.

Issue: Internet access is unavailable after configuring the device in router mode.

  1. Reset the device by pressing the reset button for 6 seconds and reconfigure it. Resetting might solve many unexpected problems.
  2. Try a different Ethernet cable to connect the modem/router and the Wavlink device. This helps rule out cable issues.
  3. Connect the modem/router directly to a PC via Ethernet cable to check if the PC can get internet. This helps rule out modem/host router problems.
  4. Ensure the correct WAN type is selected: PPPOE, DHCP (dynamic IP), or Static IP.

Issue: Internet access is unavailable after configuring the device in AP mode.

  1. Reset the device by pressing the reset button for 6 seconds and reconfigure it. Resetting might solve many unexpected problems.
  2. Try a different Ethernet cable to connect the modem/router and the Wavlink device. This helps rule out cable issues.
  3. Connect the modem/router directly to a PC via Ethernet cable to check if the PC can get internet. This helps rule out modem/host router problems.
  4. Disable the MAC filter on the router. If the MAC filter is enabled, the Wavlink device might be blocked.

Performance Question: Can this device increase my router's internet speed?

Answer: No, this device functions as a Wi-Fi range extender. It can help you achieve a larger Wi-Fi coverage area but cannot increase the internet speed provided by your router.
