3. Setup

3.1 Connectivity Modes

The darkFlash DF98 keyboard supports three connection modes: Bluetooth (BT), 2.4GHz Wireless, and USB-C Wired. You can switch between these modes using the selector switch located on the keyboard.

• 2.4GHz Wireless Mode:

  Locate the 2.4GHz USB dongle, usually stored in a compartment on the keyboard. Insert the dongle into an available USB port on your computer. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to the 2.4GHz position. The keyboard should automatically connect.
• Bluetooth (BT) Mode:

  Switch the keyboard's mode selector to the Bluetooth position. On your device (PC, tablet, smartphone), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices. Select "darkFlash DF98" from the list to pair. The keyboard supports multiple Bluetooth profiles (BT1, BT2, BT3) for connecting to up to three different devices simultaneously. Refer to the keyboard's specific key combinations for switching between paired Bluetooth devices.

• USB-C Wired Mode:

  Connect the provided USB-C cable to the keyboard's USB-C port and the other end to a USB port on your computer. Switch the keyboard's mode selector to the USB-C position. The keyboard will function as a wired device and also charge its internal battery.

4.2 Keyboard Layout and Indicators

The DF98 features a 98-key layout, providing a compact design while retaining essential keys including a numeric keypad. Indicators for Num Lock, Caps Lock, Mac/Win mode, and low voltage are present.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the keyboard surface. For deeper cleaning, remove keycaps using the provided puller and use compressed air to clear debris from between switches.
• Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the keyboard frequently. Charge the keyboard when the low voltage indicator appears.
• Storage: Store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

• Keyboard not responding:
  • Ensure the keyboard is charged.
  • Check the mode selector switch is set correctly (BT, 2.4GHz, or USB-C).
  • For 2.4GHz, ensure the USB dongle is securely plugged in.
  • For Bluetooth, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the keyboard is paired. Try re-pairing if necessary.
  • For wired mode, ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
• Keys not registering or double-typing:
  • Ensure switches are fully seated. Use the switch puller to remove and re-insert any problematic switches.
  • Clean any debris around the affected switch.
• Connectivity issues (intermittent connection):
  • Reduce distance between keyboard and receiver/device.
  • Avoid interference from other wireless devices.
  • Ensure the keyboard battery is sufficiently charged.
