2. What's in the Box

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the 3800mAh Lithium-Ion battery with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
- Gently slide the battery into place until it clicks securely.
3.2 Antenna Attachment
The RT-580G comes with two antennas for optimal performance across different frequency ranges:
- Antenna 1: For 136-174MHz (VHF)
- Antenna 2: For 400-480MHz (UHF)
- Select the appropriate antenna for your intended frequency band.
- Screw the antenna clockwise onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3.3 Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the battery. The 3800mAh battery provides over 15 hours of operation on a single charge.
- Connect the desktop charger to a power outlet.
- Place the radio (with battery installed) into the desktop charger cradle.
- The charging indicator light on the charger will illuminate, typically red during charging and green when fully charged.
- Alternatively, the radio supports direct Type-C USB charging for convenience in the field or vehicle. Connect a Type-C USB cable to the radio's port and a compatible power source.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Rotate the top-mounted knob clockwise to power on the radio. Rotate counter-clockwise to power off.

4.2 Dual Band Communication
The RT-580G supports both UHF and VHF bands, offering 199 programmable channels. It features a tri-standby mode for energy efficiency, allowing monitoring of three frequencies simultaneously.

4.4 GPS Functionality

5. Maintenance

5.2 Battery Care
- Always use the provided charger and battery.
