6. Operating Instructions

6.1. One-Click Offline Cloning

The offline cloning feature allows you to duplicate an SSD without connecting the enclosure to a computer. This is ideal for system migration or data backup.

  1. Prepare SSDs: Insert the source SSD into the "Source" slot and the target SSD into the "Target" slot. Ensure the target SSD's capacity is equal to or larger than the source SSD's capacity.

Note: Disconnect the USB data cable from your computer before initiating offline cloning.

  2. Set Cloning Direction: Use the toggle switch inside the enclosure to select the desired cloning direction (e.g., NVMe to SATA or SATA to NVMe).
  3. Start Cloning: Press and hold the "Offline Clone Key" button for approximately 3-5 seconds until the LED indicators begin to flash. Release the button, then quickly press it again to confirm and start the cloning process.

Video 6.1: Detailed demonstration of the offline cloning process, including button presses and LED indicators. This video is provided by WAVLINK Direct and is highly relevant to the cloning function.

  4. Monitor Progress: The blue LED indicators will light up sequentially (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) to show the cloning progress. All LEDs will remain solid when the cloning is complete.

6.2. Using as an External SSD Enclosure (Online Mode)

The enclosure can also function as a high-speed external SSD reader/writer when connected to a computer.

  1. Insert SSDs: Insert one or two M.2 SSDs into the appropriate slots.
  2. Connect to Computer: Connect the USB-C to USB-C/USB-A cable from the enclosure to your computer's USB port.
  3. Access Drives: The SSDs will appear as removable drives on your computer. You can now read, write, and manage files.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Handling: Handle the enclosure and SSDs with care. Avoid dropping or subjecting them to strong impacts.
  • Storage: Store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Thermal Pads: Ensure the thermal pads are properly placed on the SSDs to maintain optimal operating temperatures, especially during prolonged use or cloning operations.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the WAVLINK official website for any available firmware updates for your device. Firmware updates can improve performance, compatibility, and stability.

8. Troubleshooting

Q: Why can't my product be cloned?
  • 1. Check Capacity: Ensure that the target SSD's actual capacity is equal to or larger than the source SSD's capacity.
  • 2. Disconnect from Computer: Verify that the enclosure is disconnected from any computer or laptop. Cloning cannot proceed if it is connected.
  • 3. Follow Cloning Steps: Ensure you are following the exact cloning steps as outlined in Section 6.1.
  • 4. SSD Condition: If there are bad sectors on the SSD, copying may halt. Scan the SSD before copying to ensure there are no bad sectors. Also, ensure both SSD disks are recognized by the computer when plugged into our NVMe enclosure (in online mode). If not, cloning may not be possible.
  • 5. Contact Support: If the issue persists after checking the above, please contact WAVLINK customer support for assistance.
Q: Which SSD is it compatible with?

The WL-ST347 model supports M and B+M key PCIe NVMe SSDs in sizes of 2230/2242/2260/2280. It does not support mSATA interfaces.

The WL-ST348 model (if applicable) supports M and B+M key PCIe NVMe SSDs (as target disk) and AHCI SSDs (as source disk) in sizes of 2230/2242/2260/2280, but does not support SATA or mSATA SSDs.

Q: What conditions mean that cloning is complete?

The indicator lights will flash continuously in the sequence of 25%/50%/75%/100% and then stay at 100%, indicating that the cloning process is complete.

Q: Can I use only one slot of the enclosure?

Yes, you can use a single slot. Alternatively, you can use two slots simultaneously.
