Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Rand McNally RANDTAB7, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the tablet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Software Updates: Regularly check for and install software updates to ensure you have the latest features, map data, and performance enhancements. Connect to Wi-Fi and navigate to the system settings to check for updates.
  • Battery Care: Avoid completely draining the battery frequently. For best battery life, keep the device charged when possible, especially during long trips.
  • Physical Protection: The tablet is built tough with a rubber guard. While durable, avoid dropping the device or exposing it to excessive impact.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your RANDTAB7, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Device Not Powering On: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the tablet to the truck charger and wait a few minutes before attempting to power it on again. If the issue persists, perform a soft reset by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds.
  • GPS Signal Loss: Ensure the tablet has a clear view of the sky. Obstructions like tall buildings or dense foliage can interfere with GPS signals. Move to an open area. If using the magnetic mount, ensure it is properly connected and powered.
  • Navigation Errors/Incorrect Routes: Verify that your truck's dimensions and weight are correctly entered in the navigation settings. Ensure your maps are up to date by checking for software updates via Wi-Fi.
  • Touchscreen Unresponsive: Restart the device. If the screen remains unresponsive, ensure it is clean and free of debris.
  • Slow Performance: Close any unused applications running in the background. Clear the device's cache if necessary through the system settings.

For persistent issues not resolved by these steps, please contact Rand McNally customer support.
