Setup and Adjustment
1. Helmet Fit and Roc Loc Air DH System
The helmet is equipped with the Roc Loc Air DH fit system, which combines excellent cooling power with a robust dial for custom-tuned tension and a secure fit. To adjust the fit, rotate the dial located at the back of the helmet until it feels snug and comfortable, without being too tight.

2. Chinbar Removal and Installation
The removable chinbar allows you to adapt the helmet for different riding conditions. Follow these steps for removal and installation:
To Remove the Chinbar:
- Ensure the chin strap is securely buckled to prevent interference.
- With the helmet on your head, grasp the chinbar with both hands. Position your index fingers on the top of the joints, touching your cheekbones.
- Simultaneously push the two buttons on the bottom of the chinbar with your thumbs.
- Rotate the chinbar upwards, keeping your index fingers in the joints. This action helps to smoothly lever the chinbar off the helmet.
To Install the Chinbar:
- Ensure the chin strap is securely buckled.
- Hold the chinbar right-side up with both hands. The Giro logo inside the chinbar should be readable.
- Place the pads of your index fingers on the stainless steel buttons on each side of the chinbar.
- Hold the chinbar at an upward angle. Locate the positioning bumps on the helmet shell with your index fingers.
- Gently insert the metal buttons into the shell while maintaining the upward angle.
- Move one hand to the back of the helmet and push the chinbar in with your other hand until you hear two distinct clicks.
- Rotate the chinbar downwards until you hear two more distinct clicks, confirming it is fully secured.

3. Visor Adjustment (P.O.V. Plus)
The P.O.V. Plus visor offers three settings, including an "up and out of the way" position. This allows you to store goggles on the helmet during long climbs or when not in use. Adjust the visor by gently pushing it up or down to your desired position.
4. Goggle Compatibility
The Switchblade MIPS is designed to work seamlessly with goggles or eyewear. Bonded rubber grippers on the helmet help keep your goggle strap securely in place.
Operating the Helmet
The Giro Switchblade MIPS helmet can be used in two primary configurations: full-face mode for maximum protection during downhill or aggressive trail riding, and open-face mode (chinbar removed) for increased ventilation and comfort during climbs or less technical terrain. The quick-release chinbar mechanism allows for easy transitions between these modes without removing the helmet.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Helmet
- Outer Shell: Clean the helmet's outer shell with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the helmet's finish or materials.
- Inner Padding: The internal padding can be removed and hand-washed with mild soap and water. Allow it to air dry completely before reinstalling.
- Chinbar: Clean the chinbar similarly to the outer shell. Ensure all moving parts and buttons are free from dirt and debris.
2. Inspection
Regularly inspect your helmet for any signs of damage, such as cracks in the shell, dents, or frayed straps. If the helmet has sustained an impact, even if no visible damage is present, it should be replaced. The MIPS liner should also be checked for any signs of wear or damage.
3. Storage
Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing it near chemicals or solvents that could degrade the helmet materials.
Troubleshooting
- Chinbar not locking securely: Ensure the metal buttons are fully inserted into the shell and you hear two distinct clicks during installation. Check for any debris obstructing the locking mechanism.
- Helmet feels loose or too tight: Adjust the Roc Loc Air DH dial at the back of the helmet for a customized fit.
- Visor not staying in position: Check the visor screws for tightness. Do not overtighten.
- Unusual noises or movement: Discontinue use and inspect the helmet thoroughly for any damage or loose components.
