  1. To remove a tip, gently pull it straight out from the iron's heating element.
  2. To install a new tip, align it with the heating element and push it firmly into place until it is secure.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • To turn on: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The indicator lights will illuminate.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds again. The indicator lights will turn off.

6.2 Temperature Adjustment

The soldering iron has three adjustable temperature settings. Short press the power button to cycle through the temperature gears.

Figure 5: Temperature settings indicated by LED lights: one light for low, two for medium, three for high.

  • First Gear (Low Temperature): 300-340°C (570-640°F). Indicated by one LED light. Suitable for delicate components or lead-free solder with lower melting points.
  • Second Gear (Moderate Temperature): 360-400°C (680-750°F). Indicated by two LED lights. General purpose setting for most soldering tasks.
  • Third Gear (High Temperature): 420-450°C (780-840°F). Indicated by three LED lights. For larger joints, components with high thermal mass, or when faster heat transfer is needed.

6.3 Soldering Techniques

  1. Prepare the Tip: Ensure the soldering tip is clean and "tinned" (coated with a thin layer of solder) before use. This improves heat transfer.
  2. Heat the Joint: Apply the hot soldering iron tip to both the component lead and the PCB pad simultaneously. Heat both surfaces evenly.
  3. Apply Solder: Once the joint is hot enough (solder will melt easily), apply solder to the opposite side of the joint from the iron tip. Allow the solder to flow around the joint. Do not apply solder directly to the iron tip.
  4. Remove Solder and Iron: Remove the solder wire first, then quickly remove the soldering iron. Allow the joint to cool naturally without disturbance.
  5. Inspect Joint: A good solder joint should be shiny, smooth, and concave, resembling a small volcano.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning the Soldering Tip

  • Regularly clean the soldering tip using the included sponge (damp, not soaking wet) or a brass wire cleaner.
  • After cleaning, re-tin the tip with a small amount of fresh solder to prevent oxidation and prolong its lifespan.
  • Never file or sand the tip, as this will damage its plating.

7.2 Storage

  • Ensure the soldering iron is completely cool before storing.
  • Store the iron and its accessories in the provided tool box to protect them from dust and damage.
  • Store in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Iron not heating up.
  • Battery is depleted.
  • Iron not turned on correctly.
  • Faulty heating element/tip.
  • Charge the soldering iron fully.
  • Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn on.
  • Contact customer support if charging and power-on steps do not resolve the issue.
Solder not melting or poor joints.
  • Incorrect temperature setting.
  • Oxidized or dirty tip.
  • Insufficient contact with joint.
  • Increase temperature setting.
  • Clean and re-tin the soldering tip.
  • Ensure good contact with both component lead and PCB pad.
Battery life is shorter than expected.
  • Operating at high temperature continuously.
  • Battery degradation over time.
  • Lower temperature setting when possible.
  • Ensure full charge before use. Battery performance may decrease over many charge cycles.
