Safety Information

Always observe general safety precautions when using hand tools. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the tool or workpiece.

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses.
  • Ensure the workpiece is securely fastened before applying torque.
  • Do not use the torque wrench as a breaker bar or for loosening fasteners. It is designed for tightening to a specific torque only.
  • Avoid dropping the torque wrench, as this can affect its calibration and accuracy.
  • Keep the tool clean and free from oil or grease to maintain a secure grip.
  • Store the torque wrench at its lowest torque setting when not in use to relieve spring tension and maintain accuracy.

Product Overview

The ETOOLAB torque wrench is constructed from military-grade steel with professional surface rust protection, ensuring durability and resistance to wear. It features a 72-tooth bidirectional ratchet head for versatile use.

Key Features:

  • Material: Military-grade steel with Black Oxide and Green Electrophoretic Coating for enhanced durability and rust resistance.
  • Accuracy: ±3% precision, traceable with a serial certificate.
  • Scale: Laser-engraved dual scale (Nm and lbf-ft) for clear and easy reading, even in bright conditions.
  • Ratchet Head: 72-tooth bidirectional ratchet head for clockwise and counter-clockwise operation.
  • Click Mechanism: Enhanced audible "click" sound (45-80dB) to indicate when the preset torque value is reached.
  • Adjustable Lock Ring: Securely locks the set torque value, preventing accidental changes during use.
  • Quick Release Head: Facilitates easy attachment and removal of sockets and accessories.

Setup

Before using the torque wrench, ensure it is clean and in good working condition. Follow these steps to set the desired torque value:

  1. Unlock: Pull down the lock ring located at the base of the handle to unlock the adjustment mechanism.
  2. Adjust Torque: Rotate the handle to align the desired torque value on the main scale with the zero mark on the thimble scale. Then, rotate the handle further until the exact desired value on the thimble scale aligns with the main scale line.
  3. Lock: Release the lock ring. It should snap back into place, securing the set torque value. Verify that the handle is locked and cannot be rotated freely.

Operating Instructions

Once the torque value is set and locked, you can proceed with tightening fasteners.

  1. Attach Socket: Select the appropriate socket for your fastener and attach it firmly to the 1/2-inch drive square on the ratchet head. Use the quick-release button if necessary.
  2. Position Wrench: Place the socket onto the fastener. Ensure the wrench is positioned to allow for a smooth, continuous pull.
  3. Apply Force: Apply steady and increasing force to the handle in the desired direction (clockwise for tightening most fasteners). Pull the wrench smoothly; avoid jerky movements.
  4. Listen for Click: Continue applying force until you hear and feel a distinct "click" from the wrench. This indicates that the preset torque value has been reached.
  5. Stop: Immediately stop applying force once the click is heard. Further tightening can over-torque the fastener and damage it or the wrench.
  6. Release: Remove the wrench from the fastener.

Important Note:

  • The "click" sound is designed to be clearly audible (45-80dB).
  • Always pull the wrench; do not push it.
  • Do not re-torque a fastener that has already clicked.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your torque wrench.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the wrench clean with a dry, soft cloth after each use. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: Always store the torque wrench in its protective case. Before storing, set the torque wrench to its lowest setting (20 Nm or 10 lbf-ft) to relieve tension on the internal spring. This helps maintain calibration accuracy over time.
  • Calibration: The manufacturer recommends recalibrating the wrench no later than 12 months after the date it is put into service, or after 5,000 cycles, whichever comes first. Refer to the included calibration certificate for details.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your torque wrench, consider the following:

  • No Click Sound: Ensure the torque setting is above the minimum range. If the click is still not heard, the wrench may require recalibration or service.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Verify that the wrench was stored at its lowest setting. Dropping the wrench can affect accuracy. Recalibration is recommended if accuracy is suspected to be compromised.
  • Stuck Adjustment Ring: Ensure the lock ring is fully pulled down before attempting to adjust the torque. Clean any debris that might be obstructing the mechanism.
