Setup

Initial Charge (Tough Solar)

Your GX-56MF-1 watch is equipped with Tough Solar power, which converts light into electrical energy. Before initial use, expose the watch face to bright light (e.g., sunlight or fluorescent light) for several hours to ensure a full charge. Avoid covering the watch face during charging. A low battery indicator may appear if the watch has been stored in darkness for an extended period.

Time and Date Setting

To set the time and date:

  1. In Timekeeping Mode, press and hold the ADJUST button (top left) until the city code starts to flash, indicating the setting mode.
  2. Use the MODE button (bottom left) to cycle through the settings: City Code → DST → 12/24-hour format → Seconds → Hour → Minute → Year → Month → Day.
  3. Use the FORWARD (top right) and REVERSE (bottom right) buttons to change the flashing value.
  4. Once all settings are correct, press the ADJUST button to exit the setting mode.

  • LIGHT Button (Top Right): Activates the backlight for illumination in low-light conditions.
  • SEARCH/FORWARD Button (Bottom Right): Used to increment values or navigate forward in settings.

  • World Time Mode (Time in different cities)
  • Stopwatch Mode (Measures elapsed time)
  • Countdown Timer Mode (Counts down from a preset time)

Water Resistance

The GX-56MF-1 watch features 200-meter water resistance. This makes it suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. Do not operate the watch buttons while submerged in water to prevent water ingress.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your watch, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a soft cloth dampened with water and a mild neutral detergent, then wipe dry. Avoid using volatile agents like thinner or benzine, as they may damage the resin components.

Battery and Charging

The watch is primarily powered by its Tough Solar system. Ensure regular exposure to light to maintain a sufficient charge. An LR44 battery is included as a backup power source. If the watch is stored in darkness for prolonged periods, the display may go blank to conserve power; exposure to light will reactivate it.

Storage

When storing the watch for extended periods, place it in an area where it can receive light to prevent the battery from fully discharging. Avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity.

Troubleshooting

  • Display is blank or dim: The watch may be in power-saving mode or have a low charge. Expose the watch face to bright light for several hours.
  • Time is incorrect: Manually adjust the time and date settings as described in the 'Setup' section. Ensure the correct home city and DST settings are selected.
  • Buttons are unresponsive: Ensure the watch is not in a locked mode. If submerged, wait until the watch is dry before operating buttons. If the issue persists, a full solar charge may be required.
