  1. Measuring Probe: Used to penetrate the material and detect moisture.
  2. Moisture Indicator Light: Displays moisture level (Low, Mid, High) with corresponding colors.
  3. Flashlight: Illuminates the measurement area in low light.
  4. LCD Screen: Large color display showing moisture percentage, mode, battery level, and alarm status.
  5. Battery Level Indicator: Shows remaining battery power.
  6. Measurement Value Display: Digital readout of moisture percentage.
  7. Data Retention Indication (HOLD): Indicates when the data hold function is active.
  8. MODE Button: Cycles through measurement modes (Softwood, Hardwood, Packing, Building).
  9. Flashlight Switch Key: Activates/deactivates the flashlight.
  10. HOLD Button: Locks the current measurement reading on the screen.
  11. Power Switch: Turns the device on or off.
  12. Non-slip Pad Design: Provides a secure grip.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The MT-19C requires three AAA batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert three AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: When the meter screen displays a low battery indicator, it signifies that the batteries are nearly depleted and should be replaced immediately.

5.2 Probe Installation and Replacement

The MT-19C features detachable probes for easy replacement. Use the included small wrench for this process:

  1. To remove a probe, use the small wrench to loosen the base of the probe by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Carefully pull out the old probe.
  3. Insert a new probe into the opening.
  4. Use the wrench to tighten the new probe by turning it clockwise until secure. Do not overtighten.

6. Operating Instructions

The MT-19C offers four measurement modes optimized for different material types. Press the MODE button to cycle through them:

6.3 Taking Measurements

  1. Turn on the device.
  2. Select the appropriate measurement mode using the MODE button.
  3. Carefully insert the probes into the material you wish to measure. Ensure both probes fully penetrate the surface for accurate readings.
  4. The moisture percentage will be displayed on the LCD screen.

6.4 Understanding Humidity Alarm and Indicators

The MT-19C provides a quick visual indication of moisture levels through its color-coded humidity alarm:

6.5 Data Hold Function

To lock the current measurement reading on the screen, press the HOLD button. This is useful for recording readings in hard-to-reach areas. Press the HOLD button again to release the reading and resume live measurement.

6.6 Flashlight Function

The MT-19C is equipped with a built-in flashlight to assist with measurements in dark or low-light conditions. Press the Flashlight Switch Key (labeled with a flashlight icon) to turn the flashlight on or off.
