3. Setup and Initial Cleaning
Before first use, it is essential to clean the coffee maker to remove any manufacturing residues and ensure optimal performance.
3.1 Initial Cleaning Cycle
- Remove all packaging materials and accessories.
- Wash the glass carafe, permanent filter, and scoop with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Fill the glass carafe with clean water up to the '10-cup' mark.
- Open the water tank cover and carefully pour the water from the carafe into the water tank. Important: Do not exceed the 'MAX' level indicated on the water tank to prevent overflow from the safety hole at the back.
- Place the empty glass carafe back on the warming plate.
- Ensure the permanent filter is in place within the filter basket.
- Plug the power cable into a suitable electrical outlet. The display will light up.
- Press the 'GRIND OFF' button to ensure the grinder is deactivated for this cleaning cycle.
- Press the 'ON/OFF' button to start the brewing process. The machine will warm up and then brew all the water through.
- Once the process is complete (indicated by a three-tone buzzer), discard the water from the carafe.
- Repeat this cleaning cycle 2-3 times to ensure thorough cleaning.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Control Panel Overview
The control panel features a digital display and several buttons for easy operation:
- PROGRAM: Sets the automatic brewing time.
- GRIND OFF: Toggles the built-in grinder on/off. Use 'OFF' for pre-ground coffee.
- STRENGTH CONTROL: Adjusts coffee strength (Mild, Medium, Strong).
- ON/OFF: Starts or stops the brewing process.
- POWDER 2-10: Selects the number of cups (2-10) to brew.
- HOUR/MIN: Adjusts the current time and programmed brew time.

4.2 Adjusting Grind Settings
The integrated burr grinder offers 8 fineness settings. Rotate the knob on top of the grinder to select your desired grind size. Smaller dots indicate finer grinds, larger dots indicate coarser grinds.

4.3 Brewing Coffee
- Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water according to the desired number of cups (2-10). Do not overfill.
- If using whole beans, fill the bean hopper with your preferred coffee beans. Adjust the grind setting knob.
- If using pre-ground coffee, ensure the 'GRIND OFF' button is pressed (light off). Place the permanent filter in the filter basket and add the desired amount of pre-ground coffee.
- Place the glass carafe on the warming plate.
- Select the desired number of cups using the 'POWDER 2-10' button.
- Select your preferred coffee strength using the 'STRENGTH CONTROL' button.
- To brew immediately, press the 'ON/OFF' button. The machine will begin grinding (if selected) and then brewing.
- To program a delayed brew, press the 'PROGRAM' button, then use 'HOUR' and 'MIN' to set the desired start time. Press 'PROGRAM' again to confirm. The machine will start brewing at the set time.
- Once brewing is complete, a buzzer will sound. The coffee maker will automatically switch to the keep warm function.

4.4 Keep Warm Function
The coffee maker automatically keeps coffee warm after brewing. You can customize the insulation time by pressing the 'KEEP WARM' button (if available, or refer to manual for specific button) and adjusting the duration from 0 to 120 minutes.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Gevi coffee maker.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- After each use, unplug the appliance and allow it to cool.
- Remove the permanent filter and discard used coffee grounds. Rinse the filter under running water.
- Wash the glass carafe, filter basket, and scoop with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
5.2 Deep Cleaning (Descaling)
Over time, mineral deposits from water can build up in the coffee maker, affecting performance. Descale the appliance regularly (e.g., monthly or every 40 uses, depending on water hardness).
- Prepare a descaling solution by mixing white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio) or using a commercial descaling agent according to its instructions.
- Pour the descaling solution into the water tank up to the '10-cup' mark.
- Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
- Run a full brew cycle without coffee.
- After the cycle, turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-30 minutes.
- Discard the descaling solution from the carafe and rinse it thoroughly.
- Fill the water tank with fresh, clean water and run 2-3 full brew cycles to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Gevi coffee maker, refer to the common problems and solutions below:
